The entire cast is very strong but as I touched on above, 9 episodes is an absolute joke of the highest order. I am on number 3 and it already feels dragged out. This bloating of shows is ruining television, this should be 2 hrs, max.

I too was very surprised and wondering how much content they would spread out that long.
But at least the writing and acting is carrying it.
It is crushing Netflix viewing worldwide.

Have seen Deadwood three times! I'd rather watch a great series multiple times, than an average one even once.

Timothy Olyphant has played a "Marshal" four times that I know of: Deadwood, Justified, The Mandolorian and S04 of Fargo.

Tthe first episode has a made-for-TV feel about it, very introductory. But, it really picks up steam a few episodes in. Raylan's ex is gorgeous. And his boss Art, is great.

Justified over Breaking Bad and The Wire? Wow, high praise. My MIL has raved about Justified for years. Perhaps I'll check it out.

Above Breaking Bad? That's a high bar. I'm pretty far into Season One and I find it entertaining but that's it. Does it get better?

Yeah I liked it but Breaking Bad is in another league. I could never get into The Wire though, so I’ll say it was better than that for me.

I tend to agree, based on the cast and overall coolness. But, I also loved BrBa and The Wire and so many others, that I prefer not to rank things.

The thing about Justified was that it was as if the writers were reading my mind all of the time. Sometimes it was the little things, like casting Amy Smart (who I love), or having a case of Shiner Black Lager sitting on the bar. Or having Dave Alvin playing in some random bar. Or casting a guy in a totally different role, that had played Raylan Givens in a different production - James LeGros (Pronto). Or Margo Martingale, one of the best character actors of all time.

I would say that it got better every single season. Back when one had to wait for a new season and new show each week. And never knew if it was coming back at all.

Recall that BrBa started very slow and dark. A lot of people at that time hated some of the characters (Skyler, Jesse, Marie). As I recall, it really didn't get any recognition until the first season was ending, which was only 7 episodes. That is when people started to recognize the brilliance of the writing. The slow burn!

It is a very high bar.
