MG24 has a few things to know: 1. The firing cadency is limitated, so you have to change the barrel sooner than at the M240. 2. The shutter part below the cartridge feeder is pretty complicated and I'd hated it to disassemble and clean it after using. 3. Also the holder for the bi-pod at the front is made way too simple and after engaging the bi-pod and firing at a certain laying position I got the feeling that the whole weapon-pod assy is moving sideways and thats not caused by the the blowback
For more precisely firing the M240 would be my fav.

In honesty I'd prefer an MG-42 or M240

Much more manageable and still gets it done
What's not manageable about this gun again?

You basically need a tank to move it around........and if I'm not mistaken it requires a power source to operate......

If you could own an auto what would it be? And AR, an AK, a Thompson, at Cetera etc. i'm leaning toward a Thompson.

Added a pistol during the turkey day festivities. My dad gave me his Walther P5.
Small suitcase full of ammo too. Can't wait to give it some attention.

Anyone know the "story" behind Carl Walthers left brass dumping?
I've read two interesting theories since I got it.

Congrats on the new gun, you'll love it.

The P5 was designed based on the P38 clockwork, P38 had open ejection but the extractor was on the left side so it ended up ejecting to the left. When they designed the P5 they enclosed the port but didn't want to redesign the extractor to eject to the right, so it ended up with left side ejection. It actually works pretty well.

Makes sense. What I read:
1. Walther wanted a police issue, German, that would protect the opening from dirt and debris while in a right hand holster.
2. The right handed shooters wrist will bend left to dump a stuck casing much easier.

Your reasoning sounds more reasonable, but I'm not as versed on firearms as many of you guys are.

It was actually done purposely so the spent casings would hit right handed people in the face as a joke.

Both true regardless of whether that was intended in the design. A left-side port would keep out more dirt and it is much easier to rotate the gun left than right (if you are a right-handed shooter).
