Haha interestingly enough people have done this experiment with resumes and job hunting.

Create two resumes that are identical, except on one resume put a prototypical African-sounding name and on the second resume put a prototypical Caucasian sounding name. Send both resumes via email to various recruiters.

The resume with the Caucasian sounding name will get a positive response back at a rate that's significantly higher than the resume with the African-sounding name.

I don't have the exact numbers on me on hand, but it's an interesting study. You can probably find it with a quick google search!

Haha I appreciate it. I'm a second year medical student at UT Southwestern.

Edit: I graduated Neuroscience/Chemical Engineering from UT Austin. That picture was my candidate photo when I was inducted into our school's chapter of the national chemical engineering honor society Omega Chi Epsilon. Everyone was forced to lean on the tree LOL.

I graduated medical school many years ago and things have changed a little since then, but the essentials for succeeding in medical school and procuring your residency of choice have all remained more or less intact.

Damn, respect. My brother in law is a rad/onc. He makes BANK. North of $500k. He bought my sister an E63 AMG last year with straight up cash. He literally wrote a check for it and didn't even blink an eye. He's a little bit younger than you are, though (late 40s).
