Yes, that's why I edited my post -- I meant that all of those things are quite easily accessible to children, not just porn. Kids will be kids and get into everything, and while they may perhaps go through a teenage delinquency period (didn't we all?), I don't think we can argue that people who disrespect women and become rapists are that way because they saw porn at a young age, at least not solely.

I'm not trying to argue that porn is some perfect and wonderful thing. It is a necessity, and not just to fill an emotional void. Sex is a huge part of human nature. I know people who look at porn every day, or nearly every day, and it's just their way to rub one out and be done with it. They are in healthy, loving relationships. Perhaps it hasn't been prescribed at a hospital, but for many, it's a therapeutic release. It seems to me that it's being set out here as some sort of singular evil if used more than occasionally, when it really is, as Verbiage said, on an individual basis. Everyone has different experiences, everyone reacts differently, and the negatives and positives of porn are no greater than of many other things that are widely accepted in our society. To say that a young man cannot cope with the reality of sex because it does not match his porn expectations is like saying he cannot cope with the reality of life/romance/whatever because it doesn't match the Hollywood movies he saw. The issue is clearly deeper than the porn/movie.

I'm really just getting ranty at this point and not writing anything of value, but I find it all a bit absurd.

I do agree. I just think that people are kind of ignorant about the whole thing, because we don't talk about it. I have watched porn before while having a girlfriend. That was actually my personal way to avoid fucking another girl, because the opportunities have presented themselves plenty of times, and my sex drive get a bit ridiculous at times. I agree with Biorin concerning the distraction it serves. I'm 25 now, and probably became conscientiously aware of porn at around age...13? I'm pretty sure it was 13. I thought we were talking about the abuse of porn, in terms of being too young and using it to fill a void in your life.

Communication is key and just because kids are going to get into something regardless of the rules is no excuse to not emphasize those rules. I think those parents who have the under aged drinking parties are doing their kids and their friends a huge disservice. All that does is reinforce that the rules (in this case the law) are not important and don't apply to them. Further, it shows the kids that their parents condone the consumption of alcohol, specifically for party purposes. All the wrong type of communication in my opinion.

This is going to throw some of you for a loop, but i think nudity being so taboo is part of the reason people go bat shit crazy when they seen naked women. Like you said, teaching appropriate vs inappropriate is the key. My wife did her last Ironman in Austria and they didn't have a changing tent there like they do in all the state side races. So most of the women being European, just changed out in the open. She said it was very easy to tell which men were American and which men were European. The European men were just casually walking by with nothing more than a passing glance. While the American men were standing there like 10 year olds snapping away with their camera phones. Geez, even if you are turned on by it, at least act like you've seen a pair.

Same thing happened to me in Brazil, was walking up the beach heading back to the car. 3 very hot women wearing very little in terms of bathing suit tanning themselves face down are in our path. Me and 2 other guys pass by (taking mental picture of course) and one of the guys i'm with says screw it and runs back there to take a picture of their thong wearing asses. Really? Brazilian men didn't even bother to take in a passing glance.

It seems to me, as contrary as it may seem to many, making nudity more of a socially acceptable thing may go along way in toning down the objectification of women in America.
