Today, an annoying ego lifter decided to set up shop next to me- and embarrassed himself infront of his girl.

Mind you- today was shoulders/bis/tris- so I was warming up with pyramids (dumb bell shoulder press) to top set of 6 (usually 50s, 65s, 80s, 95s, 115s) and this dude shows up while I'm hitting the 65s and he goes 70. I ignored it at first- then i went to 80s and he went to 85s with TERRIBLE form- and I was like "let's put jr to bed"

Skipped the 95s, straight to the 115s.

Homeboy left with his tail between his legs and his girl was wet after seeing a real lifter.

The other day with all the new resolutioners- had a galore of chumps curling in the squat rack- so I had to use the smith machine for squats.

Anybody else feel like smith machines should be renamed to pussy squats? 315 felt like 135 :

Just me- or does it make everything feel way lighter.

First timer on the smith machine. Usually hit the real squat rack for skwatz

First off curling in the squat rack is one of my biggest pet peeves! I can’t stand that shit. The squat racks are for real lifting. Those same ppl probably use the smith machine...lol. The Smith machine is an assisted movement, it helps you. It is for beginners/intermediates who don’t have the experience/confidence and over all core/body strength to handle the movements freely. Most all of those ppl don’t know how to properly bail out of a lift and need the safety of the catch bar/ or don’t have a spotter. And yes, the few times I was forced to squat on a Smith machine it felt lighter. Reason being you are just moving the bar on one plane and not having to use a lot of secondary muscle groups to stabilize the weight through the entire movement, compared to doing free standing squats.

I know ppl are going to chime in saying how great it is because it isolates the muscle better, which in theory is true. However on big compound strength movements like SQUATS it is better to use your entire body to move/control the weight. THIS is what makes you strong! But the Globo gym bodybuilders have their own theory’s. If you want to isolate the muscle do leg extensions! Let the blasting begin haaaa
