Sadly the photographer didn't take any video, when the tailgate was opened or closed, nor any photos from the back with the tailgate open. But anyway good stuff. So BMWBLOG was wrong (fortunately) and ynguldyn was right already three years ago |

I understand, if BMW wants those displays with iDrive 8 first into i4 and iX (to generate hype around those models), and not into ICE models, but why they just can't introduce those for G26 ICE already 03/2022 - or at the latest 07/22 MY change with G20. Waiting of two years is way too long. |

Has anybody seen any footage of the G26 outside door handles in operation or "popped out"? Because those are totally different than in G22. Are those like in Tesla and they pop out, when touching the handle?

At least based on the i4 concept, since it looks like there's still an area to grab with your hand while the handle is not popped out, I think they will operate similar to a Porsche Taycan/911.

speaking about the new G20 interface....will be also implemented in the G80?
And, could anyone guess which will be the major changes of the G80 LCI expected in 07/22? Taillights only or more?

Will the G80,G82 and G87 also get the new interface/infotainment/communications package, including the dash?I assume they will because they usually share the same general interior layout as the series cars they come from.I hope they don’t because I prefer the dash layout that the G80 and G82 have right now.

ynguldyn Is there any indication that a RWD G83 will be added at some point?
Your release schedule indicates that July will bring three xDrive M3/M4 models - the G80, G82, and G83. Any sign of a RWD G83 on the horizon? |

Seeing how coupes are getting phased out, I doubt it'll ever happen.
In any case, the coupe has a different wheelbase compared to the 4GC/i4, so they would have to re-engineer the battery as well (and it would have to be smaller), so that makes it a non-starter for this product cycle at least in my opinion. |

Leaving a cross-reference here for the spin-off thread entitled "Likely production schedules for the G87 M2, G80 M3, G82 M4 and their LCI facelifts": see here.
Giving credit where credit is due: the contents of that spin-off thread are inferred from scheduling reconstructed by ynguldyn in this thread to date.
