I remember that tape deck. I think a friend of mine had one. IIRC, it had a handle on it and a frame, so you could remove it quickly from the car and lock it in the trunk to prevent theft.

Who remembers this moment? I was a little young at 8yo, though I still remember it (pic below).

However, this was a significant memory in my life: in 1968 my family was at The Greek Theatre watching as Robert Kennedy, campaigning for president, was standing up in the back seat of a convertible where a crowd of people gathered around him. He was shaking hands with as many people as he could. I was in that crowd and I reached up and he shook my hand. I was 13 and I'll never forget it. He was assassinated 3 months later.

I remember when the Muntz 4-track rage hit town, later to become 8-tracks by Bill Lear, I think. Anyway, a gas station in town, of all places, couldn’t install
the Madman Muntz devices fast enough. It became apparent that the gas
station mechanics still had some things to learn regarding car stereos when
folks started bringing their cars to us, complaining of poor sound quality. We
discovered that when the mechanics were installing speakers in the car doors,
they were cutting through the plastic vaper barrier. So when it rained, water
trickling down the gaps of the roll up windows damaged the speakers.
