The procedure we use here (my business) is to dump the battery in a bucket of super saturated saline and walk away for a month or two. Then wrap in duck tape and dispose of in regular trash. Not great for the environment but then nothing about these LiPo batteries is.

Yeah there's an EV ByD in the next street and it's parked close up on a small narrow driveway to two gas cars instead of being on the road by the kerb a few feet away

Not sure why he couldn't just bump start the... oh, wait, yeah, no manual transmission. 🤣🤣🤣

The Mustang Mach-E has the same low voltage battery (LVB) charge management issue. Leave the car sit for a few weeks and the 12V battery goes tits up. The MME has a way easier boot unlock procedure. There is a cover on the front bumper, which looks like a tow hook cover, that has the power leads to the frunk lock. Why manufacturers engineer this crap like this is mind boggling.

Mobile’s ‘Lightning McClean’ electric garbage truck struggles to deliver
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The city bought an electric garbage truck in 2022 as part of an effort to go green, with expectations of saving thousands of dollars a year in gas.
“We’ve had it out on the road a couple of times, but I think it’s probably been in the shop more than it has been on the road,” said Shonnda Smith, interim executive director of public works.
Smith said the vehicle had a modified route, covering less territory than what the other roughly 30 garbage trucks handle. Still, it was not able hold a charge long enough to finish its route. The truck went in the shop in November. After workers installed a new part, it returned to service in January.
they acknowledged, it handles less than half the load of a standard diesel-powered garbage truck.
Half of Colorado Springs’ four e-buses were not running.
In 2020, according to Fox News, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority in the Philadelphia region pulled its entire fleet of e-buses out of service

Will disposing of all these E mistakes be bad for the environment?

'Unable to drive' as built by a nutty moron instead of an intelligent chap that just wants people to be happy and satisfied their car will mostly just start and drive.

The most amazing thing about this thread to me is not that there are over 400 pages of posts, mostly from a small group of dudes pissed about EVs (which I find totally fair though some of the posts are pretty ridiculous).

Most amazing to me is that some guy who agrees with none of it visits every single day just to scratch his condescension itch. The psychology of that is super, super weird to me.

I wouldn’t be pissed about ev if they were better for the environment but they are not, yet all these dumbass politicians and groups tell us we have to drive one. California is starting to wonder what to do with all of the used solar panels and car batteries……….

“It’s soul-destroying constantly getting told it’s my fault when it clearly isn’t.”

A recent investigation by What Car magazine found that electric cars have up to a third less range in reality than advertised. The data highlighted the disparity between the results of official government tests and those that can be achieved during real-world usage.

I rented a Hertz Model Y in Austin, TX last year. It was 95 degrees (day). Charge was 83% out, 67% in. Used 16% charge to drive only 19 miles. You can calculate the range from that using 80% to 20%, not so good.

Barring a phantom drain you can get this if you leave on the sentry mode with the cameras running all the time. Sentry mode is good for a few hours parked when at a restaurant. I wouldn't leave it on at the airport. I never have issues and have left my car for over a week a few times.

I spent my formative automotive years driving British sports cars with typical British electrics. I was also broke ass poor so to say I ran out of gas a lot would be a understatement. It always sucks so I get range anxiety. At least when you run out of gas you can get a can of gas but you are pretty much screwed when your EV runs out of electricity. If I had a EV I would darn well have AAA.

Left church today and there was a Tesla Cyber truck in the parking lot, maybe they were looking for a little divine providence?

I fast forwarded to pretty much the end. Not sure what the ambient temperature was so what was the cabin heating scheme, lights and wipers on for safety in the British weather reduced some of the range (?). Just for grins, all of my 5 cars beat their EPA fuel efficiency ratings. My newest car, the Bronco, is on the +side at 16% better than EPA. 20.9 vs. 18.

Yes Tesla's are fast but not tree proof or idiot proof.
Harrison man killed in single-vehicle Naples crash
June 27 2024

Police say an electric vehicle crashed into a tree at high speed, forcing officials to temporarily close Harrison Road in Naples when battery debris spread over a wide area and started numerous small fires.
One person was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in Naples.

The driver of the 2024 Tesla was identified as Sergi Kolesnick, 33, of Harrison, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Cumberland County Sheriff's office.
The crash resulted in “a significant debris field of batteries and several spot fires occurred,” according to the statement. “Fire and EMS responders worked for hours to contain the scene to prevent the fires from spreading from the involved vehicle to a nearby home and the woods in the area.”
Clean-up of the crash scene was ongoing as of 3 p.m. Thursday. The road remained closed between the southern end of Lewis Road in Naples and the northern end of Lewis Road in Harrison.

Shocked, there's gambling going on in this casino
Law aimed to boost renewable energy. It also helped a solar company reap billions
June 26, 2024
Executives, officials and major investors in First Solar, the largest domestic maker of solar panels, donated at least $2 million to Dems in 2020, including $1.5 million to Bozo’s successful bid for the White House. After he won, the company spent $2.8 million more lobbying his administration and Congress, records show.
First Solar’s stock price has doubled and its profits have soared thanks to new federal subsidies that could be worth as much as $10 billion over a decade. The success has also delivered a massive windfall to a small group of Dem donors who invested heavily in the company.

Does this accident have an effect on EV policy or Tesla? If I posted a picture of the aftermath of a single car Porsche 911 crash would we need to change ICE industry policy or governmental policy?
