I'm not seeing the "ULTIMATE Pkg". That is the way to go no question.
I am assuming that all "Individual Colors" are in play?

I am strongly considering this as my next car!
Anyone have any news on changes for the M8?

Well it’s cheaper per pound than the previous one. So technically whoever buys it gets „more for his money” 😉

I'll wait for 5 years when someone returns it from lease. Should be $60k less by then.

I'm good with the price. Not good with the weight. My dealer says I'm so far down the list for the wagon I won't get one for two years. With that 900lb penalty, I may scratch myself.

Anyone know when you will be able to place an order in the US? My CA says it’s not available yet. Sorry if it’s somewhere else in these posts didn’t have the time to go through everything thank you.

Hah! Not the way used car pricing seems to work anymore, you'll probably pay 5k over MSRP for the CPO.

This comparison is going to bug a lot of people I’m sure, but there are two cars in particular catching my eye for my next, the first is the G9x, and the second is the Macan Turbo Electric. Hear me out. Both ~$120k well-equipped, ~5350lbs, < 3s 0-60.

Feature set is similar, with the macan being a bit superior, with massage seats, rear electric sunblinds, burmester high end audio available (which should be superior to the non-diamond b&w in the m5). Neither have soft close doors which is a bummer to me. Simple, almost silly feature, but once you get used to it, you miss not having it. Both have rear wheel steering. No paint to sample on the Porsche, while the bmw is top of the food chain.

Hp numbers on the Porsche are lower on paper, but I bet it’ll feel peppier off the line. The bimmer is a lot more spacious. The elephant in the room is that one is an EV and the other a partial EV, but after listening to videos of the m5, somehow I think the line is going to be pretty blurry.

I hear you and all of your comparisons. But I personally would not cross shop these two particular vehicles. One is a compact SUV. One is a almost full size GT Sedan. They look completely different and serve completely different purposes IMO.
But, your money, your choice.
I will also add that for my money and the similarity in pricing you mentioned, the Bimmer has more to offer overall. Again, IMO.

I may be able talking blasphemy, but am I crazy for just wanting to give up on the M5 and get a Tesla Model S Plaid?

I really hate that the made the M5 heavier and less luxurious.

It's less crazy then you think. We were doing the exact same comparison now. My wife drives a Macan currently, and it basically drives like a car or large hot hatch. We were looking at the new Macan Electric, but an M5 Wagon is actually where I'm trending. I think M5 wagon vs Macan E-Turbo S is a perfectly valid cross shop.

You’ll notice when you have to constantly keep closing/slamming your door twice after being used to soft close doors.

Purpose is fun commuter for me that can comfortably carry my kid in the back and all associated gear +shopping/ groceries in the trunk with my wife in the front. The major advantage of the m5 is the rear seat space, but they notoriously go unused by most m5 owners, and aren’t that great for adults anyways. The macan is a low riding suv, the m5 is a high-ish sedan/wagon. Like I said, it both sounds nuts but the lines are blurry. Will have to drive each… I bet it’ll be a tougher call than one would think.

I loved every second of driving a first gen macan turbo. Very well rounded car, almost no weaknesses to speak of. I was almost certain the g99 was the one till I got an ix as a loaner and was underwhelmed, and news about the m5’s weight came out leading me to consider pure EV’s since they’re in the same territory anyways.

Not blasphemy, being real the plaid will eat its lunch in any scenario, won’t even be close. It weighs 600lbs less and has 300hp more. I drove its predecessor for a weekend, and the performance and even driving dynamics are nothing short of excellent.

But as much as many of us are dogging on the g60/g90’s interior, it’s still pretty damn good, and on a completely different level from Tesla’s.
