G90 looks way more modern compared to the F90 - makes the F90 look like a classic...interesting...
BTW - I'm looking to purchase a used F90 right now... |

curious about idrive.
is it any easier to enter destinations in map? we have 2020 x7 and it is a pain in the ass to enter destinations. on my tesla, once I start entering a number or street or what ever, it starts trying to guess and gives me a list of places and I can simply pick even before entering all the information about the destination. Did the new idrive do that? |

I was able to test drive it a few days ago as well. I have driven all M cars in production and currently have an XM label with same drivetrain. Here are my thoughts:
Weight: Yes it is heavier than F90 but to be honest, you cannot tell when pushing on local roads and highways. Braking is sufficient and there is very little body roll taking corners on public roads. Rear wheel steering hides the weight well around corners. Unless you track it weight is really a non-issue. Power: Power is more than enough for everyday driving. Delivery is linear in sportiest settings, very little turbo lag, almost imperceptible with electric motor kicking in early. Acceleration is faster than my XM label, boost function at highway speeds throws your head back into headrest. Keeps pulling 55-90 easily for passing on highway. Transmission: Tuning is better than my XM label. Smoother and not as violent when shifting. In my XM label sometimes I feel like shifting in sportiest settings is very harsh. New M5 has smoother shifts and feels slightly more responsive/quicker than my XM. Suspension/ride: In sportiest settings, it is Much better than previous X5MC and better than my current XM label which I find to be very firm. I feel every bump and have 22’s instead of 23’s. The new M5 is such a comfortable daily driver. Firm but not unforgiving. Almost as good as XB7 on air suspension. This was a pleasant surprise for me as I was worried it was going to be too stiff. Exhaust: Doesn’t sound as loud as loud as my XM label. Lots piped in but even when turning off this sound it is not very loud. Even with cold start I felt my X5MC was louder. On highway, less burbles than my XM label. I wish the new M5 had the same sound as my XM label. Interior: Not as nice as my XM label but I like liked it. I don’t miss the shifter at all, clean, lots of carbon bits. Head room is great with carbon fiber roof. Tons of headroom/legroom. Seats are totally adjustable, side bolsters, leg extenders, etc. only negative is that this car should have massage seats at this price point. Exterior: I actually love it, illuminated grill is awesome especially at night. People will move out of the way if they see you in rear view mirror. No soft close doors! This should be standard on this car. Carbon mirrors look awesome along with roof. But they could have make the front and rear diffusers in carbon to complete the look. Overall: Solid daily driver, anyone looking for one car that is both luxurious and sporty rather than having a dedicated sports car and a sedan would be very happy with this car. I honestly think it is an upgrade over the F90 and you get to drive all electric for local short trips. Last edited by XM Label; 11-20-2024 at 04:16 PM.. |

I agree to your statement that cars manufacturers no longer look to create raw, “hardcore” driving experiences and that They’re focusing more on complying with regulation

Preconditioning with my m550 just meant it would run the fans full blast, basically. If its anything like my x5 45e, it will not just precondition but will actually run the AC/heater... it's a really nice benefit of having a full hybrid.
