I know, right? The first time I saw that video on the Viper forum I thought the dude was kidding. The guy actually thinks he's a badass driver by shifting fast or something.

Well I just turned 30 and I pick up my 7mt z06 on Friday. Got a white/red interior 1LZ for 77k out the door. I don't need four seats and after test driving one I was hooked. I love the looks of the white with black wheels. The sound of that motor is just insane. Reminds me of the e92 m3 I had on steroids.

I was surprised about how much room you have sitting in the drivers seat. I'm 6'1" and 190# and had plenty of room. I hate when my right leg hits the center console and I had no issues. Can't wait until Friday!!

Corvette really has the closed in feeling, almost like putting a high performance motor on a bath tub. Then trying to look over the hood almost at eye level. Friend has one, will take the f8x over the zo6 batmobile anyday.

If it's new...then holy shit that's a good price. Only reason I didn't get one is that the new ones I was configuring were 100k+.

Yea it's new but it's a 1LZ. Only options are black wheels. MSRP was 81.5 and I got it for 77 including all dealer fees.

The nice thing about the 1LZ is it comes with all the important performance options like magnetic ride and a HUD. You don't get all the creature comforts
Like heated/ cooled seats and a subwoofer.

I was actually going to buy a '14 z51 for high 50s but then I saw I could get a new z06 for mid 70s and my priorities changed haha. Counting the days until Friday.

Same thing happened with Buick. GM's marketing team spent millions trying to lower the age demographic of which purchases their cars. Frankly, it's brilliant!

My dad has one and I don't fit in the driver's seat at all. I'm 6'6" so I'm a bit of a freak in the height department but I think anyone over 6'3" is going to struggle to find a comfortable position.

You are a smaht man and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. Please do kindly post some pictures. I'd get a silver one but white is a verrrrry close second...seen a few with black wheels on the street and I almost break my damn neck each time.

Yeah the one I want (2LZ with options) is $101,265 MSRP. I'll probably own one one day, but it was just a little too much for my DD.

Yeah, especially with a helmet on if you want to track it. I think their cool cars though, my buddy just bought an ex Bondurant C7 stingray as a track toy. Upper $30K's but no factory warranty anymore.

There is no way that I can take away from the performance aspects of a Z06 but man there so many things that I dislike in that car...

1) It feels big... bigger than even an M3, the long nose is just odd.
2) The motor while a monster is rough and makes the car vibrate.
3) Driving the car feels somewhat akin to drive a very fast truck... from the engine, to the seating position to almost everything.
4) The sound from the inside gets a bit annoying and the overall fit and finish while incredibly improved from vettes of old days, still isn't a place that I want to spend time in.
5) Sadly, resale value on these new ones will be terrible due to all of the engine cooling issues.

I think that it would be a great extra car to have fun with occasionally but nothing that I could DD or reliably track.

1- The long noise is pretty cool IMO. Also keeps a low hood to help with aerodynamics. Has better aerodynamics than a 911 GT3.

2- This is what part that many people love, its kind of a american muscle thing. The way engine makes you feel and hear it. the BMW is a refined car. IMO both have there places.

4- You are getting Ferrari performance at 82k. this is how GM can get away with this. Its not the best made car.

5- the overheating problem is without a doubt the worse part of the car. Although you shouldn't run into problems if you are not tracking or road racing all night. Although I still don't give GM a pass on this.

You can easily daily drive a corvette. This is just a excuse BMW guys like to give out. Maybe if you have kids, or to old to handle getting in and out of the car it might be a problem.

1. It feels big, but not bigger than the F80 M3. It feels big compared to an s2000 or Miata. Have you tracked one? Never noticed that it felt big on track.
2. The motor is smooth as nuts. A 90 degree V8 is a very well balanced setup. There is some feedback that you feel through the chassis (at idle, not while driving) that I think is awesome. Reminds you that you're in a unique car. Don't get me wrong, sometimes not being aware of the engine in the BMW at idle is nice. But the LT4 has a sense of being alive.
3. This comment makes no sense. The seating position and roofline are among the lowest of any production car. The interior volume is relatively small. The hood is as low as you will find in a front engined car. The Cg is very low. The driver seat is positioned closer to the rear wheel than the front (the opposite of a truck). The variable steering ratio is much faster than that of any truck. Which part feels like a truck?
4. The exhaust has a mode labelled Stealth. It's VERY quite in this mode. Did you try this mode?
5. Lease residuals are very high. This is the best indicator of resale we currently have. Your supposition is incorrect. The cooling issues are not that common and are entirely over represented on the forum. Every new performance car has issues. 100% of them. There is zero evidence that the C7 has issues occurring at a greater frequency than any of it's competitors.

I've owned a C6Z06 and driven a C7 and there is no way in hell that car should be anyone's daily driver. The tire noise alone would drive you crazy not to mention the lack of utility and the cramped feeling.

The cars are not refined which also goes completely against driving one every day.

The OP's comment, and yours as well, about the long nose is a personal thing. It is what it is. I personally hated looking out over that damn thing as it was very tough to judge distance although if you keep it long enough (I didn't as I had mine for about 6 months) you will probably adjust.

I use the term lumbersome when describing the engine feeling in the Vette. You feel that all the way inside the c0ckpit of the car. A lot of shake in first and second gear. Much different feeling than an M car, AMG Benz or Porsche and one that I did not enjoy.

Personally, I'd never own another one. Just does not have the driving characteristics I like in a car. Doesn't mean its not a good car ....just not my cup of tea.

The comment earlier about exotic performance for low $80k range is right on. For a weekend / fun car z06 is right at the top of my list to complement the daily driver f80.

I like the looks of the C7... best Vette yet. I considered it before I bought my F82, but needed the rear seats. And, I gotta agree with the 'old man trying to look young & cool' impression. I think that too. The vast majority of people I see driving a late model corvette look 70+. I guess it's also why they are always driving 10 mph below the speed limit! Maybe I gotta get out more...

A related story... a friend of mine, born and raised in Germany... now granted she's not a car person, but she has the same impression of people who buy 911's. An even worse impression... old, 'gold chain' guy trying to look rich... I was shocked to hear this!! But goes to show each region or country has their stereotypes!!
