McLaren will have its own engine. Only the chassis would be similar.

We'll see.

Nothing is official.

Except BMW owns a mega cfrp plant and that is some heavy weight pull right there, and we know BMW knows a thing or two about eDrive / Hybrid Technology. Sounds like a better affair then Toyota to me.

Build a compelling case? It might have been greenlighted if they had proposed an M 2 series Gran Tourer

Seriously, this marks the second great super car that BMW has axed. The first being the infamous 550 hp M8.

And they (BMW management) keep fucking over M Division, meanwhile AMG has already produced its SECOND bespoked production car, the AMG GT. Audi is on its second generation of R8. And BMW will not let M Division go out and play with it's friends. Afraid it might get hurt? Being overprotective only protects the pocketbook and stifles the growth of M Division's confidence.

Thats at least an possibility, if this V10 would be based like the new V8 on the "Baukastenzylinder" which reduces the productioncosts by many common parts. This is what Scotts V10 rumour is based about.

Simple because the biggest engine which would fit in the i8 Chassis without an massive rebuild is an I4.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I think BMW should acquire Mclaren. That would really help keep them ahead of the VW group. They have Porsche, Lamborghini and Bugatti!

I think that this would be the ideal marriage. BMW power plants, combined CF experience, McLaren chassis dynamics, AND the L/T potential of having BMW back in my fav sport...F1.

It is almost too much to handle!!!!

Sounds good, I'd imagine BMW would style it, McLaren would design it, BMW would manufacture the bits and pieces, and McLaren would assemble it.

I just hope they don't get involved in the colossal trough of wasted money that is F1.

I know this won't happen according to earlier posts by SCOTT. He said they don't need to get into the supercar market because they don't have an image problem.

You won't see BMW even entertain the idea of re-entering F1 with the current engine architecture regs. If F1 takes the next logical step in engine size reduction and goes to inline four cylinders, then you might see BMW get back into it. Don't forget that in all of the years BMW has ever been involved with F1 they have a whopping ONE (1) championship to show for it.
