I wonder if they will even make a z28, or if the 1LE ZL1 is supposed to take its place in the line up?

Part of the reason they even had the gev V Z/28 is because they ultimately had LS7 engine production. However at this point they don't have a "high power" variant of any NA LT engine. I suspect it would only make sense to produce if they do so for a refresh of the C7.

In any case the ZL1 is crazy cool. The 1LE is icing on the cake. I *really* wish they just felt smaller. Every time I have ever driven a 5th gen it always felt like a land yacht of a GT car, and almost made me claustrophobic being in there. I would love to try a 6th gen to see if the alpha platform has changed any of that because the SS 1LE and ZL1 1LE are undeniable performance bargains, and awesome track machines! Kudos to GM for continuing to bring such amazing cars out.

What's wrong with the commercial man!? No drifting through turns in a RWD V8 car? Who's gonna buy it?

I doubt that they'll come out with a Z/28 after this. I'm not sure there'd be a point to it.
The Gen V Z/28 with the LS7 was a fantastic car and basically, if they bolted the LS7 into a "normal" Camaro SS 1LE and increase the tires to the ZL1 1LE, they'd walk all over the GT350R. The LS7 makes the exact same HP as the flat-plane 5.2L in the GT350, but 90ft lbs. more torque, so the engine would be up to the task.

Still, it would be nice to see what that combination could do:
Camaro SS
1LE package
LS-7
Multi-manic suspension
Wheels/tires from ZL1/1LE
Weight savings - optional rear seat delete, aircon delete, changing the suspension to the MM from the Magnetic ride control etc.

I mean, really!
Why not make the Camaro AWD? Also, I could buy a used 2013 GTR and the price difference would be less. American Muscle is dirt cheap though, price/performance can't be beat, but the Camaro isn't exactly cheap either. Also you could mod a vehicle to perform at nearly any level for less money.

Has it been able to complete 1 lap? Or even to do a full lap under full power? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be fast. Probably not even in the 7 minute range.

Tesla is an awesome car but it's not road course car. Straight line is where it's dominate.
