Thanks for saving this early, Philippe!
I've hit max speed in every car I've owned with the exception of the M6. VW Scirocco 1.7 stock - indicated 110 VW Scirocco 1.7 modded - indicated 115 VW Scirocco 1.8 stock - 115 Merkur XR4Ti stock - 130 or so Merkur XR4Ti modded - 145 then drive shaft exploded 3X VRG_135 VW Passat - 130 indicated Acura Legend LS - 145 indicated BMW 525i - 155 indicated BMW 528i - 155 indicated BMW X5 3.5i - 150 indicated BMW 328d - 130 indicated BMW E63 M6 V-10 modded - about 180 with one more gear left. (My buddy with the Lambo Gallardo Superleggera (my favorite car name in history) hit 196 GPS on that run but had to bail out due to the bad road. BMW i8 160 indicated Oh...I almost forgot the Ford Fusion - 120 or so. I have no idea what the top speed is.

140 in a stock VW Golf GTI. Got blown into the other lane by a Cayenne GTS, passing me at 160+...
Not sure about the BMW speedometers. Mine have typically read about 5mph high at 70mph. BMW's stated "acceptable error" is something like 5mph plus 10% of the actual speed - so they won't do anything under warranty to correct it. My theory is they build one speedo, and calibrate it to the largest wheel they sell. Cars with smaller wheels will have speedo error. But I could be wrong?

Mine are consistently about 2% low based on GPS on the BMWs. Unsure about the others.

I'll just say that I reinforce a lot of BMW stereotypes.
Like C&D said in their recent review of the ///M2, the car just makes you into a d-bag because it's just so damn capable. You can literally do whatever you want and get away with it cause your BMW is the most well engineered and badass looking vehicle on the road. |

theres not that many long straight roads here to max out your motor. I did once take my old Astra VXR to an airfield though and got an indicated 152 out of it. My F10 is just a lowly 520d but it's been mapped up to 237bhp and definitely felt like it had plenty of pull left at 125.
I managed to get my old Yamaha YZF1000R up to 173 on a nice country lane on the way out to the east coast but at that speed a fly hit my neck and it felt like I'd been shot. I figured if a fly can hurt that much then a tree would hurt a lot more. Never done anything as dumb since. |

Fastest in my BMW - 131mph (210km/h) in, uhhh....Mexico
Fastest in a car - 155mph (250km/h) in a convertible Saleen Mustang. Also in "Mexico" Fastest ever - 178mph (285km/h) while riding a Hayabusa. Went uphill with the throttle wide open and actually caught about a foot or two of air at the top of it. Haven't spent much time riding motorcycles since...and when I have, it's been rather tame in comparison. Take a guess as to where this happened...

I once hit 45 on the 405N in Los Angeles in my F80 M3. It felt like 200.

My speeds aren't that great, but really stupid. 95mph '68 SS396 Chevelle with top down. Lost the driveshaft. Same car without hood or Right fender 90mph.
Did 120mph in '92 vette with top down and 5 other vettes following me around Bowling Green KY on tobacco roads. 120 indicated in my 335i. |

I still have not hit 200.
Sad really as it only takes just over 20 seconds which is plenty of time on a 12,500 foot runway. |
