It's a shame about Craftsman tools though. How the hell does Snap on make money, and Craftsman can't!? Snap-On are not worth the premium you pay for them.
Craftsman sold out a couple of years ago and moved most of their manufacturing to China, Taiwan etc. Nobody wants to pay USA prices for shit Asian tools.

THere’s this thing called the Internet... my kid games on it. Learned to read on it. Entertained by it. Grew up on it. At some point I’ll be replaced. Once kid gets money from it.... oh wait you tube...

had both my daughters birthday and one of her friends so i was at Toys R Us this weekend. They do have a sale but it's pretty underwhelming. The good stuff is like 10% off. Not enough of a sale to really open my wallet for future purchases, but i did get a few things. Bit of a mess though lol as you'd expect.

Just got back from my local TRU, video games and Legos were 5% off, no discounts on DVD/BluRays, rest of store showing 10% discount. Shelves were full, a few people in the store but no one checking out when I left.

i went on Sunday and it was fairly packed, messy, and people were buying crap, so i guess it all depends...with the marginal sale percentage though, it's not all that incentivizing so your experience is understandable

Yeah, keep checking. 40% video games is a good deal. Even for disks(I try to download most xbox games so I can share with my old college roommate).

It's not about that. It's about the atmosphere and joy of going there as a young child and seeing toys piled 20 feet high all around you. At the end of the day, is saving a dollar on a toy that big a deal? No, it's an irrelevant drop in the bucket. I mean, most everyone here could have saved 1000s by buying a cheaper car....

Welcome to the digital age. What you are describing is no longer having the ability to provide your child the same experiences you had as one. This happens to every single generation. Probably more so today due to the digital age.

I would argue that our kids aren't missing Toys R US, and never will. Sure, walking into a store full of toys is great. But I would argue that surfing the internet full of toys is even better (from a modern child's perspective). Of course we didn't have the internet growing up so we really can't compare.

It's just different.

Most 18 year olds today have never experienced a world without smartphones, a world without the internet, wifi, and a world without a 9/11. Think about it.

You don't miss what you never experienced. It's just different.

Lastly, the brick and mortar shopping experience is so shit nowadays, I personally avoid them at all costs and buy online whenever possible. Toys r us included. Just the way it is.
