The most ridiculous statement I've EVER read.

Sometimes things work 100% of the time. The fact that you quoted Spock on perhaps the grandest blanket statement of all time actually makes it even worse.

it was not flawed logic - certainly not ridiculously flawed... you just didn't follow it. i provided more detail in a subsequent post. the logic is the solution without all the detailed steps provided later.

hopefully those that didn't get it will understand one of the solutions provided - these types of questions are not only good for the brain but they provide insight into a thinking process. if you've ever done myers-briggs or DIsC or something like that it's very interesting to understand where you fall on the spectrum.... if you don't understand it's not an intelligence thing it's just the way people approach problems.

True - but this is not the scenario that was presented
If you see two whites, means two blacks were taken away or a black and a white were taken away - know from above that a black and a white were not taken away so two blacks were taken away
This is the flawed part. You can't use a situation not being the case as a reason for the outcomes not being possible like this. You do know that if you saw one black and one white that one option is a black and a white were taken away. That does not mean that NOT seeing a black and a white means that a black and a white were NOT taken away.

So, give me my white car
The logic is flawed, and this question only works if you assume the other two parties have deductive reasoning as well. You could easily be in a black car and if the other two don't deduce that if they were in a black car the third person would know what color their car is.... this whole problem doesn't work.

Your later detailed explanation did a much better job, but your first post (quoted above) was a very flawed argument.

Just saw this. It's actually not too hard.

only combinations are as follow assuming you are the 3rd person:
1: white white white
2: white white black

If it's situation 2, person A cannot know what color his/her car is for sure so he/she won't guess to risk losing money. However, person B will know immediately his/her car is white because he/she sees a white and a black. Person B will know for sure his/her car is not black because person A would have given the answer already and won. The only answer left is situation 1 which means you are in a white car.

Not really. Two conditions are presented to give the participants the greatest amount of motivation to think logically, even at the most basic level with more than enough time to come to a logical conclusion:

1) 30 minute window: They are given more than ample to time to think out each scenario.

2) A wrong guess is an automatic loss to the guesser, and automatic win to the other 2. Each person is motivated to be correct and NOT make a 50/50 guess, therefore will run all the logical deductions. The fact that both Jane and Max did not guess within the first 20 minutes means they have thought through the challenge and have deduced that what they see is inconclusive.

Or they can't figure it out, what if both care more about not buying 2 cars than possibly getting 1? They sit there because not gonna guess.

20 minutes is a long time to not think about it. Besides, that's not the point of the riddle.

A man is found dead inside a car. The deceased has suffered a gunshot wound to the head. There are no bullet holes in the car or the glass. The windows are up, doors are locked, keys in the ignition and no gun found inside the car. How is this possible?

Someone shot him in the head, put him in the car and locked the door with a second set of keys?

Negative. Nothing stated about a second set of keys. Like where your head is at though. I'll PM you the answer but will wait to post it here.
