Original or did you replace the plastic piece of shit they use? Replacing the plastic impeller and RFT's are my first two steps on any BMW. Good luck with putting humpty back together again.

First thing that came to mind was Lexus RX. Doesn't sound like they are towing or hauling around tons of stuff so GX/LX seems too big.
Then I notice OP doesn't include Lexus as something to consider. Any reason why? Usability and reliability would be through the roof. |

Just get one with a metal impeller and you should be fine for a long time.

My issue with the $1400 i just dropped on the stupid water pump is that BMW have failed to acknowledge the premature failing of this part, 57,000KM is insane for a water pump. These should be replaced as part of a recall, they are that bad, there's a massive thread on this issue as these things pop left, right and centre. |

I’ve alwags been of the opinion that the previous gen (up to ‘14) Volvo XC90 was the best value for a mom car. Your price range opens you up to nicer possibilities though. I’d probably just get a Lexus LX and be done with it. It doesn’t have the character of the x5 or Range Rover but amazing build quality, capable, comfortable, roomy, holds its value, can go off road and the new ones look quite good. The land cruisers also have a cult following and are soon to be discontinued so nice ones will be even more highly sought after soon If they kept it nice

Both parents have been driving Japanese for many years - my dad has had a few fleetwood Cadillacs. I get the sense they want something different - most their financial planners driver German as well as 2 of their kids, my sister and I. I'd like for them to go Atlas, Q5, possibly Subaru or Volvo...maybe Lincoln.
Now having said that - the Lexus prob is the prudent choice. |

None of the listed items on the VW Touareg were covered under warranty. Have a look on Google, and on clubtouareg.com. The widely publicized VW buyback could be viewed as delayed warranty coverage, although legal means were required to realize it.
