Why is this little rant relevant to this thread? Here's why:

Just this morning, I saw this tidbit come across my news feed.

"Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James left the court early in their 115-104 Game 3 loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday night, something many didn’t take kindly to.

James, with about 10 seconds left on the clock as time was ticking down to the final buzzer, simply took off to the locker room. "
Well, maybe he had to meet with all the Felons and Paroles and discuss how they would all vote against Trump this coming election. He needs to wire them money for their bail money...

LeBron is a more efficient scorer

LeBron James is a more efficient scorer than Michael Jordan. He is a better all-around shooter than Michael Jordan. If LeBron was less of a playmaker and took more shots, He would have averaged more points per game than Jordan. Speaking of LeBron’s playmaking skills, he is a better playmaker and passer than Michael Jordan.

First game I watched more than about 5 minutes all season. The game was over but there was .7 differential on the shot clock. I think only 2 Lakers stayed on the court, then they all had to come back and put the ball in play so the game could end. It was pretty bad.

While what you said has a lot of merit, the fact is Jordan has 6 rings out of 6 and James has 3 rings out of 9 finals. James has lost 6 finals! Jordan has lost zero finals.

A lot of people agree with you that James is the GOAT. Based on his personal career stats, its a toss up between between James and Jordan. For me, the difference in finals performance will always put Jordan first. James said in the six finals his teams lost, the better team won. Jordan never had to say that.

The trouble for James now is no matter how well he does, he cannot erase his horrible finals record. He knows that. That's why he is so frustrated he walks off the court before the game is over. I think history will show James as second best. Still great, just not the greatest.

So what about the years Jordan played where he NEVER GOT TO THE FINALS?
people are acting as if Jordan played in the NBA only for 6 years, got the the final and won and he didnt play any other year.

it took Jordan 7 or 8 years before he played in the NBA before playing in a Finals.
After winning 3 rings he retired, when he came back in 95, he was beaten in the playoffs by Shaq, Penny and the Magic............its as if people want to sweep that under the rug.
Its a part of his record, and just as much a part as his 6 rings.
Also a part of his record is his misguided ego boost of coming back to play for the Wizards for 2 years where he didnt even make the playoffs.

the Number of rings argument is Rubbish because
1. BILL Russel has 11 rings in 13 years, the two he doesn't have are years where he was injured. so if it were purely rings, Russel would be the GOAT.

Kareem, whom I regard as the best ever, has just as much rings, and one more MVP than Jordan has.

I wont rank Lebron yet, Ill wait till his career is over. it had seemed unlikely, but is AD stays healthy and there is no shard decline, is possibly for Lebron to get to 5 or 6 rings.
If he has 5, i'm putting him ahead of Jordan - For this reason:

there is no other player in the history of the League to have Led four different teams to the Finals and three Franchises to the championship as its FRANCHISE PLAYER
Robert Horry and John Salley has rings with 3 different franchises, but they were role players. If Lakers win, which they will, Danny Green will join Salley and Horry

Its this way with any sport. There will always be different opinions about who is best, what era is better, etc. What I said is not inaccurate, nor is what you say. These are all great players. I was going to bring Russel and Jabbar into it but I was just responding to a post comparing Jordan and James.

You highlighted points about my post and then get all worked up with your post. The first point I made that you bolded is simply a fact. The second point was simply my opinion. The hint on that one was the two words "For me" at the beginning of the sentence.

Personally, I don't think that rings argument is rubbish as you call it. This is what they all play for. This is what James moves from team to team to achieve. It is THE goal. For me, it is a factor for deciding comparative levels of greatness. It's not the only factor, but certainly an important part.

If you think James is the greatest, fine by me. A lot of people agree with you.

Look up Hollinger game score
And see who has had a better game than kobe's 81 points , in terms of total statistical contribution to the game
That is all you need to know about the greatness of Michael
The man basically nearly dropped a 70/20 game for crying out loud
69/18/6ast .622fg and 22-23 ft

Of the top 50 greatest games ever LeBron got 2 and Mike has 9

Nuff said

Btw I haven't even started the defense argument

The Heat decided that they wanted to get back to Miami tonight and never showed up.

LeBron James is about to win his 4th NBA title which means he'll have four rings. Back to you guys.

Mickey Mouse ring.

beat an over rated 8th seed

the weakest rockets team we've seen in the last 5 years

Denver wasn't even supposed to be in the WCF

the worst team we may have ever seen in a finals with multiple injuries.

All while teaming up with another top 5 player in the league.

What a joke.

James is 4/6th way to a tie to being GOAT and even then only if you are willing to discount amazing champions like Russell and Jabbar.

Even if James gets to 6 rings to tie Jordan, he's still got those pesky 6 finals losses.

James is a great player, no doubt. But just because he thinks he's the GOAT does not make it so.

Getting swept not once but TWICE in the nba finals
Also averaged less points than Jason Terry who came off the bench in the 2011 finals

In Jordan's 6 finals appearances, there's was never once a doubt that he was the best player on the court
James hasn't always been that case , 6 of them to be exact

I did not take so well to James as a 250 pound baby crying foul over every touch, playing touch football before a game, and walking out of a game early. It is disrespectful and unlike a role-model but how people are today. I was weening off watching NBA anyway but he made it easy to turn the channel. Even the trash-talking Jordan was a much better and classier player and I really miss watching him play and speak after games.

I love that 'Bron bron said he wanted his damn respect to.

You're one of the all-time great players, multiple MVP's, Finals MVP's, Rings with 3 different teams. Jesus he's turned into such a whiner.

Lebron is def a great player. However, he's also playing in one of the softest times. If he played in the Jordan era he would've been curled into a little ball crying about getting fouled.

He’s definitely top 10 but not the greatest. The best don’t seek attention every other twenty (20) minutes, become GM’s and trade whoever they want to get their buddies but most importantly, he has six (6) finals losses.

Holy shit.

Please check out on YouTube “ Jordon vs Lebron - The best GOAT comparison.” It’s from DANGERproductions. This video should put a end to the self proclaimed GOAT. Your going to be surprised.
