I spent some time in the G90, which in a sense is still behind the new G80 in design so I can get a feel of the materials. In that case, it was on par if not better than what BMW offered.

Every part should be tested for durability before you should start selling. That's why Ford has more recalls then anyone else.

It seems the more basic cars have less advanced technology, therefore less problems. Silly IMO.

It really is amazing how few people really understand or choose to ignore how the ratings are tabulated. It always boils down to people being skeptical about any result that doesn't fall in line with their own preconceived notions generated from internet hearsay or anecdote. The reality is that these ratings are as reliable a measuring stick as we have.

You're a lucky sob. I got 2 bad apples I suppose. My indy just mentioned BMW charges 3k for a new engine with all the accessories that go with it. Cheap right! No. Just applying more makeup on an ugly pig. Problems galore so they give folks a little break on cost knowing this keep brand loyalty. Only quick fix option they based upon keeping us brain washed for these cars. Hell, I still am.

This is the 3rd or 4th year of quality study showing US manufactures as well as Hyundai/Kia higher, or as high as BMW. Minus FCA of course, Chrysler has been bottom of the barrel for a long while.
Kudos to Koreans, kudos to BMW, Kudos to GM and Ford.

These surveys are worthless IMO. If someone brings in the car because they cant connect their phone via bluetooth, thats considered an issue.

I completely disagree with both of you on vw. I’ve had 4 diff gti models dating back to a mk5 all new in their current years and have been equally happy and impressed with them all. Very few issues with them overall. I only traded my last car which was a mk7 gti with 23k miles because I was able to find the 135i I’m in now and doing so significantly reduced my payment and the amount of owed towards the car. May not seem like a big deal to most but I’m def not rich by any means, so I took it. Though I love having a 135i again I do very much miss quite a few things about my gti. Namely the seats and seat/pedal position which are completely different from the 1er. I honestly thought I’d never go back to leather seats and I did and kind of wish I could’ve supplemented the sexy Interlagos seats from my gti. The gti had an amazing amount of cargo space given it was a hatch and a 4 door. Also really liked the way the car handled around curves and higher speed turns where the 135 stock has a harder time with sways and obviously understeer. There’s plenty to love about the 1er but honestly I’ve been very happy with vw over the years. I’m keeping my 1er and I’ll likely mod the suspension a bit but I’ve done most of the modding I want to do at this point

Hearing a lot about BMW reliability and agree fully. Lease them, don't own them.

Cars cost thousands of dollars. Shouldn't we expect them to perform simple things like connect to the phone if it's a feature included in the price you paid? I would argue phone connection is more important to the average driver dependant on hands free communication than say rock chips or a rattling noise from an exhaust.

I had J D Power call me after three days of ownership. I had not even driven the car as it was delivered to me and put in my garage and I went on a business trip. I told them that right off and they said ok it will only take 5 minutes and they tried to ask me 75 questions. Like how did I like the infotainment, how was the paint, did I have rattles , how did I feel about the seats, how were the colors. I told them look I didn't drive it , I didn't play with it , I am not answering your questions. The interviewer didn't care , kept asking away. It's like it doesn't matter if you drive or use the car , it's only how you feel about it new. I don't know which rating that was but I would not believe anything they say. This would definitely hurt those manufacturers whose infotainment have large learning curves like the euro manufacturers. |
