Someone posting with the name Treadstone somehow deduced the test was done on Continental's track and so the Conti-Sport-Contact-7 could've had a home field advantage, because the Conti won the test. I'm wondering why the test was done in the first place with the brand new Conti-Sport-Contact-7 product being tested against the much older Michelin PS4S -> when the test could've been done a little later and with the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5S? So new product against new product.. but perhaps 'Conti' simply needed the test and article doing now..? Whatever the case, someone will test both products head to head very soon IMO. Perhaps Tire Rack.

Yes that's correct but he has done tests at Michelin and Goodyears testing facilities too.
So one can only guess how much this influences the test results.

Yes i noticed that on the contis too.
Should improve handling and drivetrain loss but may results in more punctures and noise because of thinner rubber!?

Been a big fan of Mich PSS and P4S tyres for years but...if other tests back up this result I'd be inclined to try the CSC7s on the front of my M5. A sharper feel from the front wouldn't go amiss.

A question for those in the know. Are tires run in anymore? Would the tires in this test have been taken out on the track to clean off any dressing and work them in a bit?

They haven't been released to the North American market yet. We're are usually a year behind the UK release...so probably around this time next year?

This seems like an odd test for street tires.
No info on thread life, only subjective comments on noise and comfort.

Usually the Michelins are unrivaled as an all around street tire. For example tires have had better dry grip, but poor thread life. Usually there haven't been much competition that is overall great. But either way, this seems more like a test for 200tw tires.

Looks like Michelins or Bridgestones are the move for US buyers. But once you get up to $1300 USD for a set of tires that are going to wear out in 20k miles, does price even matter?

Absolutely correct. The BMW Star-spec PS4S outperformed the regular PS4S in the dry, by a large enough margin. Attributed to different construction with a grippier outer band compound.

And the regular PS4S outperformed the OEM Star-spec in the wet, by about the same margin. Seeming to indicate nothing comes for free, at least when comparing variations of the same tire.

Yet in this test the Contis outperform everything dry and wet, which can indicate either a scam, or a quantum leap in tire construction. Having seen this guy’s videos before, I personally am dismissing the scam scenario, to my eyes he is legit.


I’ve never run UHP Contis on my cars before, but maybe I’ll give them a try next round.
