I'm tempted to drop a deposit to get on the list and assess as Q4 comes. I've been holding onto my low mileage F80 for something fun to trade into, and this might be it.
But if my spec ends up being closer to $150-170k, then might as well go GT3 shopping instead. :P

The US roads are used to whales being on them, so this is no different.
Also, the RS6 will still look better and have a better interior this is a fact. But cool.

Anyone who signed the petition to get a G80 touring for the US should be the first ones signing for an allocation for this.
Prove that you actually want a touring since it’s an extremely niche market for the car in today’s world. |

Wagon owners are often outdoor enthusiasts, campers, or road trippers like me. I have rented wagons in Germany for 30 years. Now in the USA, they ONLY bring the M version over. Why do I want a wagon that is low to the ground and stiff on rougher roads. Bring a normal wagon over and I will buy it. Also not 6,000 pounds. I love the 3 wagon personally. Or bring over a normal 5 avant. We don't all want M sport.

BMW did not make this decision lightly. There is a market for M5 Touring in the US. Every single one will be spoken for.

They missed the boat. Sorry BMW. The M3 wagon should have been here years ago. Years. I would have gladly purchased an e46, e9x, g8x wagon but now you bring a 125k ish M5 to the states? You guys need to listen to your true fan base. Good luck.

I really don’t get this hate toward wagon why anybody should have to prove their use? Just don’t buy one if you don’t like it. |

Therfore the next best solution since we never received the G8X Touring would be the M5 Touring. Regardless, a wagon will always be worse performance wise compared to their sedan counterparts. (M5 vs M5 touring) and imo uglier. It’s a hyper niche market and I’d love to see people who actually want a sporty wagon buy them, but I highly doubt it. When the sales numbers are a flop, BMW will be like “See, told ya so, the Americans don’t actually want wagons.” |

To compare the Touring situation it’s like if BMW USA would kill the XM, the IX, the X1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and bring only the X5M to the U.S. market. Therefore they could tell their SUV fans you see we listen to you their is the X5M for you and we will judge the demand of SUV purely based on thoses sales numbers. If BMW USA was serious about Wagons we would have a 330i, M340xi, 330e, M3 Touring, i5 40e, 530i, 540i, i5 M60 available as well. Then you can compare the wagons sales figures compared to the sedan and suv. But BMW want to make more money by pushing their us built suv that are more profitable and not subject to import duties. |

Touring/Station Wagon buyers in North America is a niche category. USA is about SUVs and Full size Trucks.
I think X5 is the highest selling model for BMW in America |
