1500 miles in 15 days... this car is a joy, and it's very comfortable and reminiscent of the older days of BMW...lightweight, agile, and the only restriction the grip of the tires... a cohesive package and a silky smooth drivetrain and one that sounds better the more I push it One day I hope to add a Carrera |

Follow up - in 3 weeks, 2100 miles. Fully broken in. Here are my thoughts
Overall: Love it. Positives: It’s the lightest sports car I’ve owned (ever) with the best sound (e93 is a close second). Great shift and clutch feel. Clutch is heavier than a 911 but perfectly weighted in my opinion. PTV is impressive in braking the inner wheels for agility and the mid engine makes for exhilarating canyon carving which is my favorite sport. Dampers are noticeably effective. It’s comfortable and has top fit and finish - feels right and ergonomically correct. The carbon fiber and race tex and leather on almost every surface reminds me of a 911R just sadly no houndstooth buckets for me. 18 ways are superb. The drive modes are useful and don’t overwhelm with a too many settings. Sport is to go fast, sport plus is to canyon carve more effectively with better throttle modulation, eco/normal and individual are nice to heel/toe and chill or set up the way you want. Gauges are perfect. Sound system (Bose) is one of the best I’ve had - if not the best - in any sports car I’ve owned. Ride is comfortable over many hours - and with my back problems that’s saying something. Looks great and relatively understated and approachable compared to a Spyder or newer 911. This is not designed for going fast in a straight line like a c8 but the power is more than adequate for street driving. Still quick in a straight line and pushing it at speed is very rewarding with the engine intonations. Top operates up to 31 mph and it’s quiet in the cabin with it up. With it down there is minimal buffeting under 80 mph and not too bad above 80. Lots of storage in both trunks. USB A in glove compartment and with smoking package two cigarette chargers for trickle charging- one in middle and one in passenger area. I’ve averaged over 20 mpg on all drives and on slow break-in jaunts over 21 or even 22, I think 23+ is possible. No hum or drone that I’ve noticed valves open or closed unless running above 3800 rpm. At 80 mph 3200rpm and doesn’t bother me - no fake noise like the modern M cars. Negatives: PCM (screen) is a little clunky. Works most of the time but when it doesn’t it is frustrating. My touch screen isn’t responding to inputs so I use the wheel. Cayman was fine so may have them look at this. CarPlay works almost all the time. Couple issues with car they are fixing under warranty- leaking windshield washer reservoir and fogged / splotchy driver side mirror. Brakes are good, but they could be better. It doesn’t really affect me because I don’t like going too fast downhill, but I think you have to really push on them if necessary. Brake feel is great and for most driving the brakes are excellent. Sound below 3800 rpm is basically non-existent other than some rumbles. This can be addressed with replacing filters and having a valve controller but I actually like how quiet it is below 4k. No USB-C ports. Price. Given market pricing I believe price is 10% over what it should be, but you have to decide if it’s worth it to you. You can get a slightly used one for $10-20k less. Or you can get a 5 year old Spyder with low miles for the same price. Last edited by Bimmerfun82; 03-25-2025 at 08:17 AM.. |

Nice write up, seems a lot of forum members are going for a Boxster lately. The NA 6 in that small a chassis is hard to refuse.

Beautiful - welcome to the GTS4.0 club! As a CGTS4.0 owner for 3 years now, here are some low-cost suggested upgrades:
1. 3D-printed 718 Rear License Plate Mounts from carpokes.com ($30-$40) 2. CPLAY2air Wireless CarPlay Adapter from cplay2air.com ($129) 3. Cable Matters Short USB Extension Cable with On Off Switch (USB Power Switch): https://www.718forum.com/posts/364043/ and product here: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters...dp/B08M44D79T/ 4. 7” PCM Touchscreen Screen Protector from Amazon ($14) - amazingly, really makes the stock PCM look a lot more modern: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CZ3X4JV...d_asin_title_1 5. Porsche Floormats with Silver Logo and Stitching from Suncoast ($110) 6. Zunsport Porsche 718 Cayman GTS Outer Grills & Center Grill to protect the radiators. Around $400. 7. OAP/OPF Link Pipes: Ok, these aren't inexpensive at $2K+, but combined with an exhaust controller and your car will turn heads whenever you want) |

Love the Cayman 4.0. Amazing car! Only other Porsche I'd consider TBH. I do wish it was possible to get it without the current PCM and without all the adjustable settings. Full sport+ all the time. Put a set of Ohlins on it and call it complete. I absolutely hate the modern Porsche infotainment system and the sea of buttons.

One of my biggest annoyances with my 992 GTS was the PCM constantly resetting or freezing while using CarPlay. Never figured it out or could get it fixed before I sold it.

My touch screen inputs for CarPlay work about half the time. There’s a scroll wheel with push functionality that I use instead. Thankfully I can just tell Siri what to do

Awesome BoxsterGTS.
I got my CaymanGTS in February. Ordered it a year ago in July 2024. I pretty much did a stripper spec. 2 way seats, standard Alcantara, white gauges, white interior trim to match exterior, red belts, fire extinguisher, Bose, badge/ sticker delete, and smokers package for the center cover. Also the passenger footwell net cause free. This weekend I’ll finally be done with the break in period. |

Quick update here. After 4k miles and only two months my engine threw a fit which was misfiring that the dealer couldn’t figure out. Long story short they decided to blame gas and stick me with a massive bill. I haven’t paid it yet, still fighting, but I traded the car and have moved on. Porsche isn’t all it cracked up to be, at least for me.
