For track performance to be close at the very least you would need to replace the entire suspension and the big brake kit - that's almost 1/2 way there on those two mods alone. Steering rack would be optional but the STI's is quicker. Honestly go drive them both. There is a big difference in how the car feels and the confidence it instills on a track. |

However in terms of interior comfort the STI is of course not as good as the 335i and does have a bit more road noise. Seats are nowhere near as comfortable as the sports seats in my 335i. After 3 hrs my lower back starts hurting. Couple creaks here and there. factory ipod connectivity is trash. All that aside I do use my STI as a daily driver and I couldn't be happier, it's pretty much depends where your priorities are set. I can make do without some of the luxuries, and it's much cheaper to maintenance and work on. |

I see shot's of Logan's car show up in more places. Here is his Journal, he's probably put in $20k to that STI although he has done a fair amount himself and sold lots of the OEM parts. Great looking STI.
Just bought this wheel for mine today and can't wait to have it installed. The stock wheel is so cheap feeling. |

You're right about '07+ Subies having very unsafe tunes. With that said, I think you're a little off base regarding the power potential. The '08+ STI's run a VF48 turbo which maxes out at 300-320whp with intake, header, catless exhaust, etc on 91 octane. The only way to get to 350 would be external wastegate on race gas, or meth injection .

The STi comes with alcantara seats...probably nicer than the ford focus seats. It's not like the STi is built to be a luxury car with fancy electronics, it's a drivers car. You don't see many 40 year old housewives driving the STI...which can't really be said about the 135/335.

Yep in the shot I posted those are JDM Recaro's, all Alcantara. Stock seats are Leather/Alcantara as Gator posted and very comfortable for daily or spirited driving. If you were going to track or Auto X alot you'd need aftermarket ones as there isn't enough thigh bolstering.
The wheel at current exchange rates (damn weak dollar) is $518. Should take a couple of weeks to arrive from Japan. |

Good looking STI, but the car looks so JDM'd out. Rims look like some ROTA's, and looks too boy racer as stated.

As a previous '05 STi' owner, I just cannot get into the new body. In my quest for a new car, I've driven new Evo MR's, STi's (like 4 different times) etc. and I just cannot get there at all with the hatch.
That STi pictured had a complete rework done to it to look acceptable. Probably $5-$7K minmum went into making it look likethat. JUST to look acceptable. No thanks. That said, Subaru is releasing the STi in a new sedan body in 2011 which will hopefully look a lot better. It's going to piss off a lot of people that settled for the hatch. I just hope it's not that cool because I'm picking up my '10 135i in 4 days... Anybody that has owned an STi here will agree there is a LOT lacking on them. The interior is pretty bad, particularly the seats. They are the widest, most unsupportive seats offered in a $30K+ "sports" car. The suspension come SO soft from the factory. The steering ratio is WAY to high for the car. The steering feedback is extremely vague. Don't get me wrong, I loved my STi, and it was a beast with tons of mods on it (susp./engine), but until Subaru decides to make it a more serious car (like the Evo) I will be passing. The thing is dumbed down so far for both genders of all ages. One test drive in a new 135i showed me a completely different type of car than I'm used to and I'm glad to make the change. If taking a car to the absolute limit in the 1/4mi, track etc, is you goal, then maybe an STi would suit better than a 135i, because of all of the available mods/tuners. I just want a 12 second car that feels amazing to drive, yet is still a bit classier with a nice interior and daily driver suspension. I think a 135i with a Hotchkis front sway and a JB3 will give me that. We'll see. |

And some people bought the hatch because they like it better than a sedan, you know you can carry more stuff and don't have a park bench on the trunk.
Subaru doesn't make attractive cars. The best bet for an attractive Subaru is the Toyota/Subaru coupe coming out. |

That's an awesome car. I was thinking picking one up vs the Lancer Sportback next year if this winter doesn't work out so well in the M3.
