It isn't ignorant, it's smarts

Both Nissan and Toyota need to seperate their luxuy cars from their regular cars. They are too alike and I think it's all just for trying to get a piece of the German automakers pie.

Yeah, and those glorified Nissans (Infiniti G35s) and glorified Toyotas (Lexus IS350s) can totally waste you in your 328i. They may not drive as well or handle as well as your BMW but they've got you on speed and power. They're decent cars and the competition is good...for everyone.

It's called "free market economics" and "competition." It's all good.

Yeah they can create brands, that's fine. I still don't think their price tags are worth it.

Just like with clothing, a name brand is at a premium. I think Infiniti and Lexus needs to throw in a lot more before they can charge large amounts.

IMHO

I agree. I chose the BMW 335i over the Infiniti G35 this time (even though I've driven 2 Infiniti's -- a G35 and an FX35 and loved both of them) for many reasons, but Infiniti and Lexus (which I've also driven 3 Lexus in the past) also make great cars, and anyone who doesn't think so should just get over themselves already. The competition is great for us, the consumers!

Aren't you being a bit hypocritical? I mean many ppl feel that with BMW, you're paying more for the name (status); maybe these competitive cars are the ones that are priced fairly?

My wifes 05 G35 sedan is an awesome car. Is it a BMW?, No. But its really good just the same and worth every penny. The auto tranny sucks though, even when your shifting it, it disengages the second you lay off the gas, not very sporting at all. If I was getting one, Id get a MT and that problem would be solved.

I found the interior of the 07 to be beautiful. A little too much hard plastic on the lower part of the doors, but other than that, I see nothing wrong with it all.

Of course we are paying for the name, but with the name comes many more years of perfected engineering. I don't think Toyota or Nissan should be charging as much as they do for what they sell. I guess I am just a bit old fashioned and like to go with the older brands.

I guess I wont be a BMW owner myself for another 2 wks., but you use such harsh language I hope I don't become like that down the road.

I have a 98 Maxima and short of the sevice engine lamp repair and a 60k service, it's had zero repairs after being in service 9 years and 135k. Very reliable car and served well, easlily worth the 22k and change I paid for it new. But nobody has to justify why they chose to buy a BMW over any car. That's a personal decision, often related to finances, like it or not.

I wouldn't exactly say a $28k Evo/Sti, or an SRT4 would ever be considered a high-end luxury sports car; just a no-frills fast-as-heck sports car.

Actually, if you really think about it, it boils down to this...

1. Infiniti is more like BMW with the priorities (in order) being 1. Sport and 2. Luxury
2. Lexus is more like Mercedes with the priorities (in order) being 1. Luxury and 2. Sport

I know this because I hear my clients complain everyday about their japanese cars.
I would have to agree with you on this on before my E90 I had a 2001 330i with 110k miles and a the wife had 2003 G35 sedan with 35 k miles We ditched the G and my wife took the 01 330 and she let me get my 06 330i. The G was a rattle box and terible gas milage and the worst seats I have ever owned. The e46 was still as good as it was when it was new, but now she wants a 530 station wagon i had one for a loaner and she loved it.

The new 2007 G35 actually reminds me more of the older boxy BMW 3 series body style than the new BMW 3 series does.

From what I can see in the pic, this car has nothing to do with older Bimmer styling. he pipes are cool, the wheels look good, they stole the kink thing, the rear lights are worse than on the e90 (especially the brake light sticking out) and that metal thing on top of the trunk???? What the hell is that??? I assume the front is nicer...but as I recall looks just like an M35/45?
