I guess all road racers experts like you know that a car with less hp and 600 lbs more weight can do the same as the Z06. Yeah lets see: Carrera GT - 600+ hp and 3000 lbs weight = 7:32 Nissan GT-R - 473hp and 3800 lbs weight = 7:35 Pull your head out of your ass, man i can't believe how many know-it-all 16 year old morons are on these forums

I've forgotten more about performance and racing than you'll ever know. Perhaps you should search this forum for my pro racing and track day pictures before assuming anything. http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/10/17...s-slr-mclaren/ http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...opanel..1.*#50 11.7 seconds...3800 lbs...perhaps, just perhaps, the engine in underrated? Perhaps, just perhaps, the GT-R that ran the 7:35 is the lightweight, even higher HP version? But you knew that version exists, right? Pull you head out, son, and learn something. |

First of all, that 7:3x time conflicts with that of one of the Nissan GT-R officials that claimed 7:53 - 7:58. So now we have 3-4 different times...
Second, no way for that performance of 7:3x with only 473 hp and 3800+ lbs of weight, unless Nissan has found some magical way to beat the laws of physics. yeah, i'm sure the engine in underrated by 100 hp

Think for a second:
1) The 997 Turbo at 7:40 2) Nissan engineers bragging for almost a year that their goal was to beat the 997 Turbo 3) Numerous Youtube videos of GT-R's testing with a 997 turbo over hundreds if not thousands of laps 4) Porsche releasing the 997 GT2 with a time of 7:32 with traffic Do you honestly think it is not faster than the 997 Turbo? really? |

i wouldn't be so sure of that. in a bit over an hour Ghosn will take the podium at the TMS and announce that the GTR has run the ring at 7:38. As there is only ONE version of the gtr being intro'd i think it would be rather odd for that time to be for a different model, no?

+1. the M3 is NOTHING compared to a GT-R. The M3 isn't comparable when it comes to the track, and they will cost the same. The M3 has officially been absolutely destroyed. It is just a nice compromise of luxury and racing.

So... For those who say they'd just supercharge an E92 M3 and beat the GTR... Wouldn't that be the same as saying I'll Procede my 335i, put on an aftermarket suspension and wheels, sway bars, Brembos, aftermarket DPs, exhaust, oil cooler, FMIC and whip the E92 M3? Not to mention I'd still not have spent $57K?

I have had a list of cars that I wanted to own someday:
1. Porsche GT2 2. Nissan GT-R 3. Honda S2000 I was able to reach my first dream couple of months ago to purchase the S2000. The GT-R is next sometime next year! I am working hard to try to get all 3 in one garage. That would be sweet! God willing! |

Everyone was wrong. The GT-R doesn't do 0-60 in 3.5... it does it in 3.3! Quarter in 11.6. Bye bye vettes and M3s.
