"beisbol been bery, bery good to ME.
Football, I don't know" I was walking around my kid's high school chanting this after visiting his Spanish 2 class. He did a "family" project and his juega favorita was listed as beisbol. Why I was the only one who got it, "I don't know" My older son who came along kept asking how high I really was. |

I remember watching a recorded VHS of back when I first started playing. Was so small, the smallest jersey offered still went down to my ankles. I would be skating towards the puck, then direction would change, and I'd keep going straight and take a year to turn around. Then repeat over and over. I was lucky if I came within 10 feet of even touching the puck. Ahhh good times. |

The above somewhat reminds me of a time back in university. Buddy of mine went to visit a friend in an apartment downtown and it was dark, so he couldn't see what was visitor parking and what wasn't (at least this is what he told me). So he picked an area that looked most like it would be for visitors and parked there.
Turns out it was someone's spot, and they weren't too happy about it (understandable). But they took it a little farther by parking their sideways right behind his car so he couldn't get out. So he called me down. We both look at it, then he tries the door, discovers its unlocked and a manual, so puts it in neutral and we start pushing the car back. Well, the owner was watching and comes running out yelling at us, jumps in his car, and drives it right back to where it was, blocking my buddy and locks his car this time. Neither of us are very happy and calmly requested him to just move it so he could get out...it was a mistake and all that. Nope, guy just goes back to the apartment. So after about 10 minutes my buddy gets another bright idea. He remembers he has a tow rope in his trunk and hey...I have my car right there...why don't we tow it out of the way real fast, unhook, he'll jump in his car and take off. Why I agreed to this I don't know. But I did. So I carefully back up, he attaches the rope, and I gently feather the clutch out and nicely tow the car (yes, I'm a jerk I suppose) a few feet so he can get out. Well, the dude called the cops and came firing out the building again, both got into a little screaming match, though neither of us was going to touch each other and then the cops came. Had some explaining to do, but ironically we got let off with a warning. Ahh university days. Edit: In America I would have got shot. No way I would do that there. |

"Here is your coffee. . . Hey I'm leaving for a few weeks next week."
At least ten years of training has gotten me the coffee before the news, but I do appreciate the long notice.

What's getting to me? Death. More specifically, 3 just happened with my dad, my step-grandfather and my grandaunt and now my granduncle is 3 feet from the grave unless some miracle happens, meaning it's 4 in 18 months. Fuck, man.

Man...., you Europeans have an odd way of processing sentences. No wonder you claimed all the men out there are mute. Everything they say is probably taken way out of context. |

The "as long as it's not mine, I have the right to fuck it up mentality"...
Whether it's a rental car or whatever, I never understood what sort of mentally backwards destructive attitude you have to have to follow this principle. Oddly enough it's prevalent in our country.

My cousin was upset as I'm sure you can understand... The "just an FYI" part sounds a little that way at first but I'm sure she meant well.

So here you can get away with trashing a rental. Over there (and in Germany) you get nailed for every little scratch, chip, or wheel scrape. That doesn't excuse the behavior, but you can see why it happens.

That being said, the unspoken (or, actually, quite openly spoken) rule is that rental cars are generally exempt from this ideal. |
