If you want to risk stratify your fear budget here is some data that will help you enjoy the fear of ICE vehicle fires instead of EVs.

"A study conducted by AutoinsuranceEZ, using data pulled from the National Transportation Safety Board and sales data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows an interesting statistic. As compiled by goodcarbadcar.net, hybrid vehicles have the greatest likelihood of catching fire at 3,474.5 incidents per 100,000 sales, followed by gas-powered cars at 1,529.9 incidents and, in third, electric vehicles at 25.1 incidents."

It's not just the risk of catching fire it's the intensity of the fires and the challenges putting them out and therefore the risk of spreading coupled with the ridiculous amount of toxins released (kind of counter to the good for the environment claim).

I’m just trying to help people fear based on data. It’s important to be apoplectic about things. I just want people to be incapacitated by anxiety based on risk.

I enjoy your humour, keep it coming but in the end what's happening is not covered up for all to see

You would think Porsche would be the least likely to have issues, but they do.
https://www.benzinga.com/tech/24/11/...ting-fire-risk

A many of use keep saying, it's not the frequency of EV fires that's the issue, it's that when it happens it's an ecological and financial disaster.

You mentioned this before but ''size'' matters, an EV lipo battery is 200 X or more the size of a phone battery where the phone battery is not usually exposed to salt water, floods and outside freak weather

I believe Musk has an eye on a different prize. Far ahead of what you currently see.

His goal is not to sell you a car, but sell you a subscription service. He's a genius.

He gets the masses to subsidize a automated vehicle network. Eventually paying people to join the fleet and have their vehicles make money.

But wait. You'll undoubtedly have to subscribe to a maintenance plan to ensure the cars are reliable. Taking some of your profit. Your car ages out. You don't have the means or way to refurbish it. Guess who does? Eventually he stops selling cars, but buys up all of the cheap cars and refurbishes.

After enough volume is achieved in each area you get offered a subscription service that offers a vehicle that arrives at home to take you to work and picks you up when you go home. Eventually you'll have the option to subscribe to more luxurious travel amenities. Cheaper ride share subscriptions. Ultra elite catered buses (you saw what he just announced).

Musk doesn't want to sell you a car. He wants to sell you a new way of life.

Maybe one of Musk's kids, if they carry Elon's brain DNA. Elon will not live long enough.

Shhhhhhhh!

Why are you telling them this?

Elon, the aliens and the illuminati would not approve! Let them worry about EVs while they continue driving their death traps all the way to our glorious take over!!

It's about perspective. You've got one of these in your pocket. So does just about everyone in the developed world. We have lots of devices throughout our homes with them. We leave them unattended in our homes and garages. But they're just as much of a ticking time bomb as any EV, but you just accept it and move along. Sure, the fire would be smaller, but if someone's not there to see it, it'll burn a house down in a hurry.

I say this because there are two houses in my neighborhood that have burnt to the ground because of lithium ion batteries that were not car batteries. Thankfully nobody was hurt in either situation. Ya'll get caught up with EV's being a drastic risk but overlook the stuff in your pockets. They can cause just as much damage.

Oh and they still remain less of a risk than any ICE vehicle which catch on fire in people's garages all the time. One started a massive wildfire here just a year or so ago.

Of course any li battery can erupt any time in any place as well as in an EV, also electric scooters as well as e bicycles are ticking time bombs.
When I leave the house I always place my laptop on the granite table in the kitchen and never charge it while I'm not there.

Hm, would love to hear this spontaneously combusting ICE car in your area and the story of the cause. If it started a wild fire it probably made the news no?

Certainly backing up your claims with news clips or others does help with stating them to be facts.

It was the bolt creek fire. Not sure if I ever saw an official cause listed, last I saw it was still "under investigation", but the word on the ground from the fire fighters is that there was a car parked at a trail head that likely caused it.

Ford is cutting 4000 jobs across Europe including 800 UK jobs because of falling EV take-up. Germany would be hit hardest with the bulk of the job losses.

Bad news for individuals losing their jobs, but good news for the future of fun to drive cars maybe.

The future is uncertain for EV's even those that are fun to drive, this vid goes a way to showing why with EV's that are filling up forecourts going nowhere, Ford being in the spotlight now.
