5500lbs, that makes absolutely no sense!

Same weight as the X5 50e, X5M and the X7.

The Audi RS6 Avant Performance is 500lbs lighter and has a 0-60 of 3.3sec.

Like most, I think I can say it’s definitely better looking than the sedan. I LOVE that we are finally getting performance estate / touring cars in the US. I’m not fully sold on the new, modern, electric-look of it. My primary issue is the front end. I really dislike the grill. I’m very happy they didn’t go the route of the G8x grill, but the solid look is just… off to me. Curious if these will hold their value or depreciate.

Yeah man, there’s stretches of I70 in Utah with no gas for 100 miles. Doesn’t bode well for the road tripping set. Or people that don’t want to gas up 3 times a week.

My XB7 has a 22 gallon tank and if I’m romping on it I see under 260 miles.

I feel the same way. Like this ain’t my absolute favorite but I want more auto manufacturers to offer wagons.

Unfortunately every American wants a 7 seater or truck…even without a family 😂

While tempting, it’s hard to directly compare this against the RS6 at this point. The power train is next gen and if Audi goes hybrid or full EV for the next iteration, then that one will gain tons of weight too just like the new S63. Still on looks alone - RS6 performance all day. When I see one in the flesh though it might just look like the future showed up today. Glad it exists!

You are not alone, I am sure as soon as allocations become available for these it will be a tough choice for people thinking of ordering G90.

My prediction is that this will outsell the G90 because of slight edge in better design, and possibly the uniqueness for similar price point. Time will tell.

Doesn’t look like anyone is tracking the G90 anyway, so if I was in the market I’d get the touring.

Definitely a hot looking car. If it was out 6 mo ago I would have considered it over my X5MC.

Production starts in November/December for the very first wagons. Our BMW Reps just told us this week. There’s no production limit either, all up to if the dealership has the allocation.

So plugging in all the time to realize the benefits of the E motor.

If it has to be plugged in anyway, just give me an i5 touring without the complicated hybrid drive and ICE. I don’t need the extra parts.
Apparently when driving it in Dynamic mode, it heavily uses the regen braking and a lot of bmw reps are seeing the car actually gain mileage after hard driving, so probably less charging that we thought we’d have to

Why not make it 6000 lbs so I can write it off? It’s soooo close.

Carwow video from the back quarter shows a much better perspective of how wide this thing will look in person.

BMW Blog also posted a picture comparison of this versus the RS6. My mind’s eye, on first seeing the M5T, was that the RS6 was the more aggressive looking car. Not so after seeing those comparison pictures - the M5T is surprisingly angular and aggressive looking with pretty intense body lines versus the RS6.

Anyway, both awesome machines, but I remain a BMW guy through and through. Looking forward to seeing it live.

Yeah that’s a waste to me….I didn’t realize how low range these hybrids were in electric miles.

Bottom line, it's a complete PITA. The only way I would ever get a matte finish car would be for a non-daily-driver. If you drive a matte car daily and let it get rained on, snowed on, road-salted, etc.... it's going to be tough to keep it pristine.
This is just not true. There is wax for matte paint from SwissVax. The clear coat is there, that’s what makes it matte. I’ve owned 2 matte BMWs and it’s no big deal…

Everyone should be satisfied or at least grateful we have the opportunity for a M wagon stateside. And with a very reasonable price point. Who cares about the weight, it’s obviously not a track car but more of a German muscle car.

Might just do the touring despite I don’t need one. 😂

I sat in the car earlier and was poking around. The lower door panels were covered with a layer of soft black vinyl (pretty sure it was vinyl and not leather) over soft plastic. Felt nice, and the car did not have full leather interior. Didn’t get any sense of cheapness inside. Beautiful car.

The dark grey colour helps hide that stupid ‘wedgie’ rear bumper. M3 touring still looks way better though imo.

I want to love this touring but:

- that sharp rear fender crease ruins side view
- double tone seats looks not good
- cheap plastics everywhere
- rear seats won't fold flat
- panoramic roof does not open
- rear window does not open anymore

Some of the was the best features for the touring. Overall looks better than sedan IMO

I really like the creative work of the launch video and their interpretation of the hybrid powertrain (Duality untamed).

Well done!

I was initially excited for this but for the same money I am going plug in hybrid Range Rover instead. Look forward to seeing these in the states.
