Despite the workload at work, reading artistic literature, you rest your soul. I like the books by K. McCullough "The Thorn Birds", "The Song of Three" .

After reading 4 disappointing books in a row, I am happy to report I've read 3 good ones back to back. I think I mentioned David Ellis somewhere in this thread. He has written on his own and also with James Patterson.

-Eye of the Beholder
-Life Sentence
-In the Company of Liars. I'm almost done with this one. It's blowing me away. I can't put it down. The story is told backwards or I guess reverse chronological order. I love this guys writing style.

I'm reading Our Woman in Moscow by Beatriz Williams. I also enjoy John Sandford, Stuart Woods, Lee Child and most of all John Grisham.

Just finished all 6 books in Jack Campbell's - Lost Fleet series. Very enjoyable and there are spin offs I may tackle at some point.

With the film about to come out - Starting the Dune series of books - Just the main 8 (I gather there is loads of side stuff as well).

I thought there were 7, if you include the "final" chapter written by son/another

As long as you read Dune you can follow the movie. The movie will help immensely with pronunciation of names!

I`m Audiobooking dude, so no worries with pronunciation

Production value is quite high to as they have different voice actors for some of the main characters.

As for the books - the 200 hours of listening i've got is as follows:

DUNE 1965 - Frank Herbert
DUNE Messiah 1969 - Frank Herbert
Children of DUNE 1976 - Frank Herbert
God Emperor of DUNE 1981 - Frank Herbert
Heretics of DUNE 1984 - Frank Herbert
Chapterhouse: DUNE 1985 - Frank Herbert
Hunters of DUNE 2006 - Brian Herbert & Keven J. Anderson
Sandworms of DUNE 2007 - Brian Herbert & Keven J. Anderson

I`m about to tackle the oil pan gasket on my n54 so that should see me through at least one book

Have you read any/all of these? Any favs?

I somehow missed God Emperor and Heretics in my youth. I'm almost done with God Emperor, and Heretics is waiting in the wings.
I have read every other splinter grouping that Herbert/Anderson have written. Outside of the original Dune, those two write better stories than Frank Herbert.

One of my younger brothers published his first novel in physical form as he is finishing his last year of his bachelor's degree in English Literature. Probably going to read that next, just got my copy in the mail the other day.

I'm reading the downloaded version from Apple. I'd rather have the paperback though.

Gave up on Dune for now - Almost done the entire Awaken Online series by Travis Bagwell. Just got Tarot Inferno and Hellion to go.

It`s a story of realistic VR and the worlds first true AI that runs the world. The VR world is one of magic and dungeons and lots of fighting/action.
