i don't think any of those are newbies who would drive a 5/10s and miss the corner at Adenauer Forst

these guys have gone around a few times and pushed it to 8/10s and found out why it's called the Green Hell

From my understanding, when you push it to 8/10ths and beyond, every straight, every corner, each of them has their unique nuances of you can call it that, either a bump (I think one part has a tree root growing under it), a compression, off camber, something small that will throw off the weight balance or unweight the rear or a slippery patch, that you will find out when you push.

So the pros memorise each and every part of the track by their 1000th lap.

Though some cars will be more stable than others. The Albon lap in the 991? GT3 RS that car looked so stable regardless of what was thrown at it

Special made for track cars, not available new to buyers who don't meet certain criteria, have Porsche advanced suspension set up that can't be compared to off the shelf models.

Auto Addiction was banned by Nürburgring GmbH. Ban got lifted, after talks they got a media license but must observe to refrain from broadcasting "Touristenfahrten" crashes and drifts.

I know this has been posted before somewhere and Robert Kubica shows here what it takes to do a quick lap in an M car, this one being an M4 in his hands with uprated gas suspension with KW springs, stripped out interior with roll cage, race seats, Pro Track wheels with semi slick tyres.
The key I believe at these speeds is having a vertically mounted GT3 type rear spoiler to counter the over steer leading to a spin seen so often on many RWD cars at the track.

This piece shows what components wear the most and need replacing after a certain amount of quick laps should you take your M on the 'Ring regularly with particular care needed with wheel bearings and b/pads.

*To save me adding extra posts I'll add it's nice to know that the 'Ring is in the preferred clockwise direction for first time Brits wanting to try out their cars there, just like the ones in England.

Not really. That wing is not doing much, it is set very flat.

Apex used to have a GTS front lip (my friend broke it, while also dropping oil on 4km of track and destroying the engine!). With the front lip, the rear spoiler is more important and would be set for more downforce.

Single biggest difference are the tyres, followed by pads and suspension.

That car was way to fast to hire out to the public. Even their M2 was crazy fast.

PU was stock. Maybe spoiler wing should then be set with much more up angle for downforce as it's the late braking from top speed when the brakes can fade that catches a lot of people out and they either hop scotch over the kerbs or if they make it go dancing around when over steer is induced, a BMW M2/3 and 911 trait.

Too much rear wing will make the car understeer and slow the change of direction in high speed sections. It's all about balance. A track car is usually set up more pointy than a road car because road cars have to allow for bad drivers.

This M4 ran track-spec endless pads which dont fade in this use.

Yeah you have to experiment in what rear wing angle would suit you best in your own car should you have one. The lightweight M4 there as you say is very fast and stable in Kubicas hands with the added race equipment which doesn't need an angle on the rear wing, it's only there for the looks on that one.

Continuing on rear wings this 992 GT3 RS is one car where the GT3 wing comes into its own.

Headed down for some Touristenfahrten on Wednesday and Thursday evening. Weather/temps are a little iffy… not sure if I’m swapping over to the PS4S or keeping the AS3+. 😬

Anyone know what the quickest 'Ring lap time is for a production street car and no it's not a AMG-one.

^ Didn't quite do it at 3rd fastest and it is an EV so in its own class. FXX rules the roost.

Lot of action off the Nurb' track and if you like high plains drifters then you'll dig this.

Nope no crash and it's all here on the gasoline rondo.

King of the Green Hell, Misha Charoudin (who lives at the 'Ring) shows the ins and outs of how to get a quick lap at the 73 turn track and indeed how to survive doing it.

''If you don't know the basics you will suck for ever''
