Performance took a step backwards. And I swear this looks no different than a damn Camry.

I’m a big supporter of BMW. Have owned several different models. But all of their new designs are bland and are keeping me from wanting to buy anything new.

Doesn’t look too bad, even in that weird color. I guess it’s still a super fast saloon car. Just feels less special right off the bat.

lol this comment section is pure jokes.

Let’s just say Vorsteiner won’t come save the day this time like it did with G80 lol.

Humble-generally-disappointed-with-modern-BMW opinion here:
They’re getting you with striking color combinations and wanna-be stealth fighter level straight lines. That side line on bottom from back of the front wheel to the rear (side profile) which feeds an awkwardly cut rear door is so strange.
It seems to me that BMW has replaced classic elegant lines and shapes which subtly yelled originality, class and Motorsport like the huffmeister kink, the BMW kidney grill are now large stomachs or plastic looking toy toy parts with a hunger for shock-factor like “whoa look what is that?” and Likes. BMW as a brand knows what it’s doing, putting everything in their tech and pushing that and design to the future. I get it; classic designs must evolve. I just feel that there is a much better way to do this. As of late, doesn’t it seem like we’re accepting all of this (not just this new M5) because it’s from BMW, a brand we all know and expect great things from? Do you have reactions like on edge then saying “Aaah…I guess I can work with it” or “It’ll grow on me I guess”.
I wrote a bit of a strong opinion here. If you 100% disagree with me please be gentle. If you agree, I’d like to hear from you. Finally, the car is not ugly. It’s strange like many new designs. It looks and sounds like a lot of fun. It will catch my eye. I will say ooh-aaah. Just not my style

So, 500+ yes. 700+? Not so much, especially if you're not planning to charge it every day or if you hammer it for an extended period of time.

I might be wrong though.
You're wrong. The modern hybrid systems are better and keep the battery charged and ready to, even if there is no longer any pure electric range.

For how long though? Can you do long runs on the Autobahn without having charged the battery at home? Not even F1 cars are able to just go on and on without having to do some serious recharging (which they naturally do), so I doubt it. For getting you off the line quickly pretty much every time? Sure. Fun if you're that kind of person.

It actually might be faster and more nimble than everyone is expecting, judging by the Joe Achilles video on YouTube. In the right color I actually think it looks pretty cool too.

Not sure about plug in but that color looks awesome on it

Interested in how this car feels with all that extra weight yet more power

I’m sure instant power is going to be nice and 3.4s 0-60 is way conservative

The fact that 20" front wheels and 4" exhaust tips look tiny is telling.

I'm hoping the Competition package eventually fixes some of the visual and performance shortcomings.

I hope they will add bucket seat options for their CS or "red Label" versions.

I'm definitely not calling those cars light either. Look at what else I wrote. Its all a gimmick. People fall for that stuff all the time. Like the guys that wont buy an M3/M4 off the lot unless it has the carbon seats even though their fat asses need a shoe horn to get in and out of them.

In 10 years these are going to be considered overly complicated, overly compromised porkers when the next version will be fully electric on some solid state battery platform that’s 2000 pounds lighter.

This isn’t quicker than my heavier iX M60. Not saying speed to 60 is everything, but yeesh.

Just lowering the gap between the M5 and the i5 M60i.

They rated the i5 at 3.6 0-60 and I think it officially came out at 3.3.

I would expect the M5 to probably be 3 seconds….definitely way slower than it was.

Lol. Hey, no fat shaming those porkers🐽🐽. I’ve never been a fan of the M5’s. Performance, no doubt. Just the look has always seemed bland to me. Some of these hybrids are just doing the electric for the 0-60 it seems. If your going hybrid, I would want that model to hammer the last model. If not, what’s the point?

6 years ago the F90 non-comp M5 was doing 2.8 sec in media testing(10.9 in 1/4). BMW rated it at 3.2 sec.

Exactly, I figured the trade-off was going to be crazy straight line speed.

What let down this thing is performance wise.
