It is really weird seeing the word "ugly" coming from G80 drivers.
Isn't that what we kept hearing for ages when they announced the G80?

Thank you he’s now on my ignore list and I suggest you add him to yours. We don’t need people like that around here. This is supposed to be a fun, enthusiastic supportive community and people like him just completely piss all over it.

I'm sure the new G90 will be a great fit for some, but not for others. Company's have to make very difficult decisions in this current economic climate. It's hard to please everyone.

The M5 is dead. Long live the M5!
Here’s the situation: If you want the M5 as it used to be , get the G80. You can choose from a variety of flavors. If you want the future, I.e., the present iteration of what the M5 is, hybrid and highway killer, get the G90. It’s that simple. Cheers. |

I have no skin in this game as I own a F06 M6 and have been very pleased with it and would have no interest “upgrading” to this M5. But it’s just interesting seeing people being labeled “haters” and spreading “negativity” when they simply are sharing their opinion on a car, that is what a forum is for- having discussions. Everyone can’t like the same things and ppl shouldn’t be attacked or potentially “banned” for having an opinion. Pretty ridiculous and indicative of a larger problem at hand today with society as a whole…

Much Appreciated! A couple honorable mentions didn't make the retired list, but still hold a place near & dear (especially the LeMans Blue E92 N55). Cheers! 🍻

Not being negative. It’s like “the king is dead. Long live the king!” A literary phrase for next generation. I actually like the M5, and I like the M3. Totally different cars and not priced that far apart.

You didn’t offend me there was one person that got offended, but there is a lot of hate today and there’s a huge lack of respect between different generations of cars and it’s really despicable. Why can’t we all just get along like Rodney king said God rest his soul

Give the car a chance for what it is we don’t have to like the next generation, but you might like the one that follows this one does that make sense? I hope it does.

100% agreed , the G80 in stock form , meaning from the factory is absolutely ugly from the front. People can either cope or accept reality. It looks awkward without a front lip and the grille design itself leaves much to be desired. However, I always knew there was aftermarket potential to truly transform the car to a proper M and Vorsteiner did not disappoint, hence if you look around any enthusiast meets , all the G80’s have grille mods lol. I would even argue that I truly didn’t love my previous F82 until I did the lip / diffuser upgrades. But I just don’t see any potential to improve this G90 , it’s like everything just looks off besides the aggressive rear end. |

2x (and current) F90 owner here who replaces DDs every 2 1/2 to 3 years. Never owned a BMW, let alone M car prior to the F90s. Not loyal or disloyal to any marque at the moment, though I’ve had a tendency to get two consecutive of things that I’ve liked. Always looking at what’s coming ahead and usually excited for it.
With all the qualifiers out of the way, I’m a little disheartened by the G90. Is there a chance that I’ll get into one relatively soon? Yes. Will have to see what it feels like driving of course, as many others have said. The F90 is the best all around DD I’ve ever had and what I’ve seen so far leads me to believe I’m not going to feel the same way about the G90. I didn’t feel that way when the F10 generation departed for the release of the F90. I was absolutely stoked about it (and that’s why I got two!). Getting around the weight is tough. Also, a somewhat small gripe to some, but I really want an actual gear shifter. I use it daily and while perhaps not a big deal to others, as of now, it is for me. What I do know for sure? The F90 is going to become part of my permanent collection and there is absolutely no way I am ever getting rid of it.

Does anyone have any insight as to how a piggy (namely, the RaceChip GTS Black) works for a PHEV like this?
Perhaps r33_RGSport could chime in on this? Can you even use that with a PHEV? Know of anything in the works for the G90? I’ve become so used to in the F90, that the car feels anemic without, it and I despise driving it without it installed. I think having it in the G90 would make it a little more exciting.

Also because the g90 engine is detuned it will add more horsepower It was used on the XM and works really well So expect little more horsepower on the g90 with racechip or jb4 given engine is detuned compared to f90 (around 100hp on e30 blend with jb4) |
