I've been getting bombarded by the same Spam number constantly that my caller ID shows as being a political call. It's ridiculous we can't report these calls as being harassment. Three times over a span of three hours in a single day is excessive.

Google spam filter works rather well for calls but not for text messages, so getting plenty of those, unfortunately. Annoying as f##k.

If an individual were to do this, we could get a restraining order. It's ridiculous there are no legal remedies for this type of harassment where we have to opt out instead of having to opt in for these stupid calls. That's if these spammers even care about any possible legal consequences.

Agreed 1000%.

I have also had SPAM calls increase exponentially on my personal phone. I used to receive them every once in a while, but the last month or so I have had the same ones calling me like 2-3 times a day. It's pretty ridiculous and annoying.

It's been a little better over the past 2 weeks but then I got 18 calls and about 6 text messages today. Mine are also attributed to some asshole entering his number in wrong when looking for health insurance and some type of mortgage.

You will see more and more of an uptick until your election is over, for the political calls that is.

WI, MI, PA and FL especially.

We haven’t seen that much of an uptick in political calls yet - some recorded calls from a Trump and local politicians, but not a ton. What we are seeing a lot of are calls for warranties, Google listings, health insurance, roofers and other contractors looking for work, iCloud and other scams, and the one I hate the most, calls with no one there. We have multiple handsets in the house so we either need to pick up and hang up, or listen to it ring ring ring.

I just answer the phone and immediately place on mute. Rarely do I ever get a call back. Give it a go.

I was wondering how my new Bimmer can be out of warranty already. It's only a year old with 5000 miles on it.

I have started answering and making loud weird noises or using air tools or the like into the speaker.

Hate to say it, but that will just make things worse as the dialer will record the call as an answering machine whioch will go back in the queue and telemarketers will also keep that as a viable record.

Seems to have the opposite effect though I know it’s your industry. I assume it’s because they think it may be a dead line and mark it as such.

So what is the solution? Being on the National and state do not call lists have no impact and neither does asking to be removed from a list when speaking to someone.

Sorry to say this but that depends on who calls you. Legit organisations will keep an internal DNC list, so you tell my staff not to call you back and they have a big fat red button and we scrub against that list every time a new job is loaded.

Telemarketers and overseas scammers, no such luck, they will hammer you into submission. If you see a familiar polling firm or an NBC or a NYT or a FOX etc, then pick up the phone and ask to be added to the DNCL.

In my opinion, the solution should be a central registry for phone numbers. The same as how DNS is handled for domain registration on the Internet. You have to go through legitimate brokers to register a domain which is tied to a specific individual or corporate entity.

I haven't had any political calls. Just this asshole who entered the wrong number.

Well, yesterday I got a text asking for a text back so I googled pictures of big d**ks and replied with a very large graphic for him. Never heard back.

We are also sending texts now, the age skew is brilliant, only old people pick up the phone and the CPI on a 10 minute survey for an under 35 is growing past $60 which is a bit nuts. Texts help fill that gap.

I go a call at work today that my cupcakes were delivered. From the local area code, but return number given was totally different. Then I got an email from that person, trying to sell me IT stuff.

I can't find no damn cupcakes
