My goal was also to see how the drivetrain handles compares to the XM as well, since some customers complained about that. |

Shocked at how much Martin likes it. Hell, he mains about the G80 in AWD vs the RWD he owns. Looking promising. |

The reviews and verdicts are coming in just as I expected. Bmw knows what they are doing and they can’t afford to screw up the M5. This car will be hot and there will be a lot of people eating their words as more reviews keep coming and people start modifying it.

I don’t think 3.1 is great considering the i5 M60 does it in 3.3?
Hell the i7 M70 does it in 3.1….. Again, not worth the premium over an M60 given the fact the interior still is poor quality versus the previous generation. So what exactly is one paying an extra $40k for in the M5? I think the M60 is the sweet spot right now….

Didn’t say it was. I said the bigger issue is how much they have cut on the 5 series from the last generation….and they literally didn’t add any of this back on the M5 despite the $40k higher price. No soft close doors still?
I’m sure I’ll get one eventually….it’s just not a car I need to have at release.

car and driver has an estimate of the 1/4 mile at 11 which all things considered for this level of car (730 hp) and price when a Tesla model S plaid does 8s... is really just not an improvement in any way... but i'll wait for real strip reviews... in 2024, I'd expect an M5 to be far faster

The auto trader and top gear reviews focus heavily on weight... and point out its drawbacks... mentioning the car has truly lost its edge. At the same token... Joe Achilees pushes the car thru its paces then ultimately just says... the weight is what it is because you can't build a light performance car today lol... what?

It seems the car is likely a good bit faster at the top end. I suspect it will lose to the F90 to the quarter mile but then beat it to the half mile. Curious what the trap speed for it at the quarter mile will be too.

In a very weird way, it almost would have made it better just to be an all out EV... the interior is already EV like w screens all over, the sound isn't that great and then you get the penalty of weight by both ICE and electric. The argument made in one video was that some people track their M5s and ICE is better for that... i really would want to speak to the person who tracks a 5500 lb car... and if they are on here lol? Conversely, if they made an all ICE car at 700 HP, it would have made a lot of folks happy, you would have had a much lighter car and it would be far more dynamic... ultimately, i think what would happen there is there would have been the ultimate performance EV comparisons where it could get spankedv(even in some cases by an I5 M60)... i think their hands were very tied here and we got a somewhat subpar product in 2024.
