Wow...I was on Courage back in October. If my car was repaired for light damage, I would definitely insist on another being built.

Google 'Tricolor'. It was a RoRo carrier that sank!!!

You wouldn't know if it were repaired for light damage. As soon as you take it off the lot, its yours (unless you leased of course).

Wow, two tiedowns seems pretty insubstantial, especially since the tiedowns are fore and aft and appear to be nylon. It wouldn't take much for the ship to heel enough in even a moderate sea to cause them to slide. I'd guess one broke away, slid into the next, broke it free and then had a chain reaction. Once a heavy mass gets moving on a tilting deck it's all F=MA.

Well, I wouldn't want a car that had been on a ship with another car that got damaged. Or a car that had been on a ship that had damaged cars on another crossing. Before or after. I'd make them build me a new one.

Let's see, though. BMW makes about 1.4M cars a year, so that's almost 120,000 a month, or about 5,000 a day if you just count working days. So 370 cars represents less than 10% of a day's output. An hour or two's work, if you will.

your numbers are waaaaaaaay off. Toyota makes 500k cars a year, and they are at the top of the auto industry in quantity.

But would you accept having your car transported on a ship that was built at the same time in the same shipyard as a ship on which a car was damaged?

Actually, it would seem your numbers are the ones that are off. Very off.

If Toyota made the numbers you quote, they would not even come close to being number 1 or 2 in the industry.

Please check your information and figures before posting incorrect information so that others don´t mistakenly assume it´s correct.

Toyota is the world’s biggest company in terms of production in 2007, according to the figures released by the company and rival GM. The Japanese company has declared 9.51 million produced vehicles in 2007, whereas General Motors has 9.26 million. Those figures of Toyota include subsidiaries Daihatsu and Hino Motors as part of the company.
