I'm not so sure about the C7 Z06. I wanted to like it but the overheating issues are a massive turn off. Track cars cannot -or should not- overheat after a few laps!
I'm betting the C7 Z06 won't be overheating either in short order. There have been some reports of it, as we all know, and also reasons that are easily dealt with (although I haven't followed it much lately). GM won't/can't allow that to be the achilles heel of their best car (performance wise) and it will be a non-issue come summer. My prediction anyway.

A friend of mine was in Nevada to lap with the new Z06 Z07 and he drove the car most of the afternoon without shutting it off without any overheating issues.

Isn't Ford suggesting the GT350R is a racecar as well?

For me, the (still very impressive) 7:32 time solidifies the awkward positioning of the GT350R since it doesn't have the pace of cheaper, used cars like the C6 Z06 and isn't going to be as nice of a DD as a C63/M3 type car

Fair enough. In the end it's still a pony car and built with that as a starting point no matter how fancy the engineers get.

What they did is quite amazing, especially when you consider the price point. What did a new c6z06 run? $80k+? I seem to recall seeing some at the dealership approaching 6 figures, but maybe my memory is cloudy. Regardless, if the GT350 comes in at under M4 prices then it's something to seriously consider if you're into a track car given its performance capabilities.

I certainly hope so, although so far what GM has said is essentially 'eff you'
