Thanks! My parents didn't raise any fools (outside of my brother and sister).

Such a cheap shot to take. He should've left it for me.

Are you a vegetarian?

Haha no, but I've actually never ordered steak in a restaurant nor cooked it myself.

Oh thank coffee. We can still be friends!

I like steaks but to be honest there are better ways to cook meat. If you ever see horse meat on the menu, take it. So much better than cow.

My son has a hockey tournament in Philly come September - and my daughter want's to look at a few places while there. So I get to do this all again in just over a month (not going due to my new job)

I'm open for cooking suggestions.
Hey, I might have good news. If your household income is > $200,000k, sorry about that....

If your income is <= $200,000, then Brown and Penn and the other Ivys will cost you "up to" 10% of your income on a sliding scale. This means an Ivy League school today costs less than a state university. The problem is the low acceptance, obviously.

My friend is a single mom and her son got into BU but not BC. BU would cost her 28k, hardly worth it imho....plus she is one of those who has nothing saved for college. I told her this is harsh, but you know that fancy CR-V you just got for 31k out the door? Imagine buying one every year if your kid attends BU. You took out a 60 mo. loan on the CR-V with nothing down, how can you possibly expect to come up with 28k per year, for 4 years?

With that being said, my boy is now 19 mos. So far, mom and myself have missed 19 payments @ $1,600/mo.

($1,600/mo. is the number I came up with, from the hospital ride home, through age 22, if you want to send a kid to college in 2032 with no assistance)

Well, I guess the good news is that your son plays hockey. I want mine to!

no doubt the cost is far outstripping the CPI. But what's even more absurd are the acceptance rates, sure, 5.9% today, but how about in 2032 when my son is applying? It is not out of the question, that it could be a fraction of 1%.

My wife and I are great at math. But even we seem to deny the $1,600/mo. from birth THROUGH 22 number, because we haven't done it over the last 19 mos. I mean let's get real--that plus daycare is almost 4k/mo. that is almost a mortgage payment, for one child. And we wonder why people making over 500k/yr. drive 9 y.o. Accords.

I was so happy when we went to 15 yr. then also handled taxes and insurance ourselves.

But there's just no way to ease the pain. School taxes due 8/31.

Life is way too serious, it would be so refreshing to simply lease cars, rent apts., and throw caution to the wind. Honestly I see coworkers doing it and they seem so happy (they are open that they have no savings, making great salaries too).

I was at a Farmer's market and they had a stand with farm fresh beef. Saw the bone-in @$25/lb and thought of this thread and was tempted. But instead I walked into a pub and had a Guinness draught.

Even with all the "craft" beers nowadays costing $12 for a 4-pack (started to notice that, when I'd ask for a case, and then see it costing $70 on my cc), that's my favorite.

Not an IPA person myself...

Depending on how they looked...I'm not sure I would have passed them up...even for a Guinness. Now a black and tan...different story

I didn't even bother to look because of temptation. I stuck with straight Guinness in honor of national chocolate milk day

My wife is heading to the east coast to visit our son, he's in the Navy and this will be mom's first visit to his new apt. This thread is giving me some serious ideas, the dog is in for a treat......I think I'll spend some quality time with the Z4MC, BBQ, beers, whisk(e)y cigars and the big screen. I have 3 days of me time coming up this week.....sweeeeet!
