As a luxury car that is basically perfect. Brilliant execution.
Agree, it's beautiful I loved it. He even let me drive it (he had a bit much to drink ). Its not a fun car by any means but its just makes you feel very special just sitting inside it. I've been thinking about taking advantage on the huge depreciation on the coupe models and getting one. I've always kind of wanted an S-Class but always had the excuse that I was too young, but now that I'm old I guess there's no longer an excuse!

Forgive me, but I don't think you know the car business very well.

The Boxter and Miata lost many thousands of sales to the S2000, as it offered a very different experience. And beyond that, produced just as it was in 2009 today, it's still a competitor, and $0 R&D. To make it a super strong competitor would take a minimal effort.

I owned an S2000, and would not own a Boxter, or a new Miata...and I'm not alone.

Then why have Honda not continued it? They are just willingly letting a cash cow sit idle?

Updating for safety and emissions alone would cost a MONUMENTAL amount.

I worked for Honda at the time the S2000 was launched, and it was done for a specific purpose, and for a specific time. They announced from day 1 that it had a limited production and would not see any major changes during that run, and they held true to their word.

I think the car could be relevant again with a minimal of effort, so you and I will just have to agree to disagree on that.

Come on man, minimal effort? Safety regs have changed immensely, as have emissions so for starters you'd need a new engine which is crazy expensive. Need a new interior design as well so basically new interior, new engine and new platform ... that is billions.

You can't just recycle a car from 2009 that started life as in 1999.

Mazda had to partner with Fiat, Toyota had to partner with BMW ...... it makes no sense. or they would have done it already.

Again, I 100% disagree.

1. They already have an engine that would work.
2. Safety regulations for convertibles aren't that different.
3. The platform is still stiffer than most current convertibles, so it's a body restyle.

And Toyota did NOT have to partner with BMW, they chose to do so, and it was a terrible mistake IMO.

There are some wacky Porsche interiors, but they are one of the few IMO that make a great looking black interior. Also stuff like Espresso, Cohiba brown, or any of the Club leathers (many of them) are so rich in feel and look.

A custom orered 650i, fully -and I mean FULLY - loaded, that someone ordered but never took delivery of. Their loss was our gain.

2014 Jaguar XJ

Sitting in that front massaging seat with the huge dashboard felt so luxurious. But the car had no power.

The one thing that Porsche, Audi, and many other manufacturers seem to get wrong, is that the dashboard and leather steering wheels should always be black, no mater what the rest of the interior color is. Always.

This may just be my opinion, but I am right damn it!

Porsche is actually one of the few manufacturers that allow you to option a full red or beige interior, they just also happen to offer those colors with black contrast. Personally I prefer the contrast looks, the all red is too over the top for me and the all beige can be a bit too elderly of a spec.

That is absolutely hideous. Put in a black dash and steering wheel (and possibly a black center console) and it wouldn't be too bad at all.
