Cool, so why don't you just stick to those neighbors who gave you the OK and leave the others alone? Seems simple enough. It's been ages since I was in Philosophy class, I'm not touching that LOL.

This thread just reminded me of a funny local garbage story. My (now-dead) best friend used to own a European auto repair shop, and kept the outside meticulous. His garbage dumpster was visible from the street, and started looking grungy after a few years. He asked the garbage company to install a new/clean one, and because there's four carting companies competing in our town they sent a brand new one out right away as good customer service.
The day after, the town police showed up at his shop door. In a scene that can best be visualized by referencing "Alice's Restaurant Massacree," Officer Obie showed up with a piece of junk mail addressed to my friend that he said was found in a dumpster at the school down the road. My friend asked why he would throw his trash down there at the school, pointing as his new/shiny dumpster? Officer Obie was intent on dragging him into the police officer's station in handcuffs for illegally dumping in a school dumpster! My friend asked to be driven to the scene of the crime, so they went to the school. It turns out that the garbage company's truck used for dumpster deliveries doesn't have a bin to dump the contents. When they picked up his old/grungy dumpster the day before, it was half full of his garbage. The school down the street requested a second dumpster, so they took his half-full dumpster from the shop and dropped it at the school for them. Thankfully, this small town police story had a happy ending...and didn't result in him sitting on the Group W bench at Whitehall Street with those mean and ugly father-rapers who may not have been moral enough to join the army after committing their special crime.....

Interesting discussion as an owner of a 5 month old pup I wondered about this question last week while trekking back home with puppy poop and seeing those tempting bins of others that I avoided. Answer seems pretty clear now.

To further illustrate where I stand, I carry my empty water bottle back to my own house for 1 hour when I’m walking the neighborhood and put it in my own bin. On trash day. An empty water bottle.

OK, you've convinced me
I'll just leave my trash on the parkway for you to pick up and put in your can, or your neighbor's can if you think it might be unsightly/smelly in your own can. |

We went for our walk today and I did not deposit the feces in anyone's trash bin for the first time in 2 years since we moved into this house. Took it back with me like I do the other 6 days of the week. Please close this thread mods

Help me decide.
Today I had shrimp fried rice for lunch. My wife uses the shrimp with tails. When I finished, I took my tails over to another building to throw away in their break room trash because: a) I was closer to that building, having eaten outside b) I didn't want my trash to smell c) Trash gets picked up tonight d) this thread |

OMG, I’m watching a news talk show which will remain nameless and they were just discussing someone putting dog poop in someone else’s garbage. You can’t write this shit!

OP you need to take a good hard look at yourself. You posted a question basically 'I did something that I thought was OK, and a neighbor complained - is it bad etiquette to do this?'
So you are thinking somehow 'if a bunch of BMW geeks think it is OK, what my neighbor thinks somehow doesn't matter'? And then when lots of people tell you that they also would find this terribly rude and offensive, you seem to argue with each one about how right you actually are, and how they should not feel the way that they do. Are you getting it that you just refuse to accept that it really is offensive to some people, and keep arguing with everyone who disagrees with you? This is a disturbingly self-centered position, suggestive of some significant sociopathy. Then again, I just read 5 pages of opinions about how to dispose of dog crap, so my judgement and decision-making are obviously blown. |

The level of thought in this thread is amazing. Dog poop in the trash, oh no, the humanity...my trash can will never be the same, haha.
