I hate to be the one to let you in on this, but neither was the 'vette - but that doesn't stop the 'vette crowd from treating Zora Arkus-Duntov like he walked on water. . .

Have Fun,

Don't know if you're referring to me or not, but one look at the Corvette's repair record through the years is enough to question the "annoyance factor" of someone who defends them so vigorously. At one point (just before the C4), the Corvette was the heaviest car in the Chevrolet catalog - full-size Caprice included. They've made a lot of progress, but Chevrolet has left a lot of trashy baggage behind. It's a good car, but you defending them while you bash BMW's is really the most pathetic statement yet.

Have Fun,
Rick

P.S. Saying "Fail" doesn't make it so - I can back up my assertions with facts you can look up - if you want the truth. . .

Why come to a BMW specific forum and complain about BMW 'badge whores'?

Hehehehe. Entry level land? How comical.

E-toughguy, the whole juvenile "My car has a fancier badge than yours!" bit, yet you're the one talking about entry level people, and entry level cars?

I don't think your post deserves much more of a reply than that. Though I must admit that I was a bit curious what sort of reply you'd have if I actually made any sort of cuttign personal remark!

Be careful throwing around words like ignorance. You just may run into someone one day in the flesh without the LCD screen to hide behind. But that's to be expected from the 1er crowd as per how unfriendly your website is to each other let alone any "outsider." Entry level car...entry level humans I guess.

BTW, leaf springs in F1. I hope that was just a joke on your part. Ever heard of a wishbone suspension with T bars, dampers, and coil springs? My god! Go back to entry-level land...please and thank you.

And for what it's worth, the vette with those massive tires has a lot to do with its lateral grip. I'm not knocking the vette. I'm not a vette kinda guy, but I appreciate it for what it is.

Because it makes any sort of objective conversation impossible.

And the good old and only 360BHP M3 CSL recorded a Nürburgring time 9 seconds better than the C6.

A trip to the Nordschleife would be great wouldn't it. I'm inviting you to come over and see what you can do with your fast car.
(I guess you own a C6/Z06/ZR1, please tell me)

Calling us badge whores in general isn't very nice sir but I forgive you once.

The C6 stock is the 325i of Corvettes. It's not surprising that BMW's professional race version of their marquee car can beat it. Not really a fair comparison.

Now a C6R would roll over an M3 CSL, EASY.

a corvette is chevy's "professional" race model as well
and a new c6 and m3 are relatively the same price so the compro is actually pretty legit, get your facts straight

C6R=Z06? Dunno?
If so then it will be an EASY 1 second off the CSL
Z06 7:49

Anyway. The Vette(which I don't hate!) is a great car for the Ring:Torque and HP make a fast laptime at the Ring(long straights)+ it's rather light.

The M3 CSL was only produced to 1400 units, it featured an aggressive weight reduction program, anti-roll bars, stiffer spring rates, and semi-slick racing compound tires, carbon fiber parts throughout, and cost almost 3x as much as a stock C6 when it was released.

Secondly, the C6 stock is NOT Chevy's race ready version. You simply don't know much about cars.

The C6R is the race version of the C6, and is much lighter, the fuel tanks are centrally located for balance, and the car has more in common with the C6 Z06 (especially in the engine area).

Yeah, and the C6 spanks the M3 E92, and cost $10,000 less. So what?

7:49???

You mean 7:42 which would be 8 seconds, and on the Ring, that's an eternity. The Z06 crushes the M3 CSL.

C6R I know that's the raceversion(have been driving that thing in racesimulation GTR2) I thought maybe that's a new streetmodel in the USA so apples and oranges, I'm not talking about a M3 GTR either...

In my country the C6 costs more or less the same as a E92 M3, a E90 is about 10000 euros cheaper and as I already stated:The E9x M3 is just as fast on any other smaller track than the Nordschleife, or even faster(Hockenheim short)

Ah that was the Jan Magnussen laptime, you're right, 7:42.99 almost flying at Flugplatz. At almost 21kms a second is nothing in streetcar comparisons, but you are right about that one. But I won't call it crushing with almost 4 litres more of displacement

So are you ready to apologize Newsong?

Because when you say I tend to lie a lot I don't like that sir.

Not at all.

You're comparing a M3 CSL to a C6R LOL

There's a lot more to a car than lap times and other comparable data. The faster car doesn't always equate to the one more fun to drive, or desirable to own. And who drives at 10/10s more than .1% of the time?

I'd take a mint E30 M3 over both. Same for a E46 M3. They're both cool to own and operate. I don't think the vette would be fun to drive all the time. The 335i is boring as hell, so it's out. Very nice car, but boring. The vette would be fun to take out and stomp on it once in a blue moon. But the performance would fall short of my bike so I'd opt to take the bike out instead...every time!

+1

Though I really like the Z06/ZR1 this is why I didn't buy it:
It's too small in the back. The Vette doesn't have the build quality, and the interior is crappy. I think the looks are 'too much in the face'.
A rather lowtech 6.2/7.0 litre doesn't attract my attention either.
Instead of hitech engineering from a much smaller engine plus the fact that it has leafsprings and a plastic body.
I'm willing to pay a bit less for a 'lesser'(LOL) car(M3) but in my eyes a better DD with the better looks and a fantastic chassis to toss around. And that's what I did.

The C6 didn't come in my mind for one second (see my arguments) and neither did the Z06(too expensive where I live) but the 997S did and the RS4 and the C63.

And when I see the comments of the Vette-fanatics in this thread I 'm happy I don't have a Corvette, because I 'd be very embarrased the way those guys are posting just like the car: 'In your face'.

In EU the Corvette still has somewhat a bad reputation and those comments won't help me buying one in the future. Au contraire.

After commenting F1 cars use leaf springs, I would think your head would be neck deep in sand by now. Please explain that one. I need another good laugh. Do you think the wishbone itself is some sort of damper? Do you not realize what the wishbones are connected to inside the monocoque? Please please comment so I can laugh at you some more!!! Thanks!
