Very impressed. Lots of work. You're a stronger willed person than I am (or at least paid to do it !).
The muffler is sexy. (Fan of that style can. I actually thought of doing a custom exhaust with twin HKS carbon/titanium cans taken from the evo 9 system. I liked it on my evo... nice DEEP sound - like a massive subwoofer that turns into a growl with rpm.) -scheherazade |

actually, i believe so. we should have the ECU back from Nick G some time tomorrow, and should have the car fired up some time on thursday. mind you, this isn't the custom tune - its just the basic tune that will make the car drivable. so if there are any issues after we get the ECU back, we have some time to make tweaks and get her running smoothly. if this is the case, the M Coupe will debut at the JDM Ups meet. the car will be going back to Nick G for the custom tune shortly after that.
patience young grasshoppa...you know we won't leave you hangin...

DUDE!!! this is awsome!!! lots of props to the "one off" work. sure, you can try to get all the numbers and take the scientific path to make the most power, but to try this off the cuff.....hats off. This is the basic of hot rods in my mind!

if you think it sounds great now, wait until the o-ring leaks are fixed and we rev it above 3000rpm .

UPDATE
the injector bung leaks have been fixed by using slightly larger o-rings. idle is nice and steady at 900-1000rpm now. i have a feeling videos will be made over the next few days.

Alright boys and girls, here it is! Sorry for the choppy editing, was trying to get the goods to you guys as fast as possible! Video shows a bit of everything, start up, reving, some normal driving, finished with a few 2-3rd pulls!
Enjoy!!

well Brian, Shawn, and I went for a cruise in the M Coupe and the Supra tonight and had a little fun...in Mexico of course .
although neither of us get traction in 2nd gear, the M Coupe is to the point that it can't be controlled LOL. so we did a quick 3rd gear 50mph roll on instead. i don't know exactly how fast i was going when i shut down, but i shut down right at the 4-5 shift. the M Coupe pulled 1 carlength in 3rd, but his 3rd gear ran out before mine, allowing me to regain a fender or so. but after shifting into 4th, i lost another 2 carlengths. so from 50-1xx mph, i lost by 3 carlengths...right now i'm boosting ~16psi. Brian is boosting ~13psi...and that will increase when the custom tune is done. hopefully i'll get a chance to fill up w/ 100 octane, turn the boost up to 19-20psi, and see how we stack up before he goes back to Nick for the custom tune. i also have a MAP ECU II that i want to install and tune, and hopefully that'll be enough to hang with Brian on "low boost" after he gets back from Nick G...if not, oh well - that'll have to do for now, as i can't yet splurge on a big turbo setup. here is some video footage, but be forewarned - most of it was shitty, and so we had to scrap a great deal of it. the first part is one of the races between Brian and I (you can just barely hear me running through the gears next to Brian). the second is a fly-by - we both did one, but Shawn had his head up his ass when i went by, so he only got good footage of the M Coupe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NBgK-_nQJg

ok, here are Brian's and my dyno results, back to back:
i thought some of you might find this information useful in trying to reconcile HP/TQ output with our brief race results posted earlier in the thread, and referenced below for convenience: Quote:
...a few things to keep in mind. first of all, i was running 100 octane and 18psi on the dyno, unlike the 16psi and 93 octane i ran during our race. i'm sure on 16psi and pump i'm making a bit less power. likewise, if my boost controller were holding 19-20psi like its suposed to, i would have dyno'd higher. ...on to Brian's car - he was running 12-13psi and 93 octane both when we raced and on the dyno. after the custom tune happens in a few weeks, we're expecting closer to 20psi. in addition, the current (interim) tune is causing him to run pig rich, so there is a significant amount of power to be had simply by appropriately leaning out the tune. so between that and the added boost, i suspect at least 550whp on pump and 600+whp on race gas easily.
