You need to get on the cover of Car & Driver. What does your current girlfriend look like?

Why are you buying a car in Texas when you live in Alaska? Are you going to drive it or ship it back?

that sounds like a fucking terrible idea, honestly. i would know. i only did 12 hours in mine and had to stop halfway for the night because i was literally in pain. the ride is very uncomfortable. i did the same drive in my m3 in one sitting no problem.

Once you got the car, I would clearbra much of it down there. Anytime while driving the Alaska Highway, any car would get chips everywhere, especially the windshield.

If you like, I would drive up to Seattle and arrange the car to ship up to Alaska. Otherwise, enjoy Canada before October when ice and snow blankets east of Tok and much of it in the Yukon Territory.

Good luck!

When you win a car on ebay, you have a link to Paypal the deposit to the dealer. Why are you asking them to take it when you could do this?

Alright, I've already gone through this, and I hope I can help here.

First off, the dealership, ebay, and anything related to a corporate office will not help here. It's why ebay is a POS. They'll blame it on mistakes, and whatever other excuses.
What's going to kill you here is the small amount of money difference, you're right on the cusp of it being worthwhile, and you paying almost the same amount as what they're asking.

If you feel it's worth the couple thousand dollars you're going to be spending to get them to take you seriously, here's what you need to do:
1. Get an attorney. Not the Texas office, that's a waste of time. You've done the initial steps of notifying all the trade areas but now you need to hire an attorney and get him on retainer. Send the certified mail citing the breach of contract, blah blah blah let him take it from here in terms of any communications.
2. Hit the news outlets. Spam the ones in your area and the area down there. Phone calls mainly, but emails will do.. This will be crucial, hope they take the story.

Again the attorney fees alone are going to be several thousand, but without an attorney there's no way they'll be giving you the car for that price

they have to have this setup, judging by the fact that the dealership only sold one car on ebay, safe to assume that its an account that's rarely used

To piggyback the steps I've said before.

The simple fact that when you google the dealership it doesn't show up on the first page means you're not making enough of a stink. (or enough of a stink for them to sell you the car).

They have a twitter, blast it. They have reviews sites, blast them there. Hit them everywhere. You need this negative press to hit the front page of google or they will not take you seriously.

What it comes down to is, they need to be afraid of the lawyer costs AND afraid of the negative publicity. If you don't hit them on both fronts, you won't get the car.

Hate to spoil the fun, but you should be informed first of all, what your bid on an eBay auction means, and second, what kind of leverage an attorney may or may not have.

Directly from the eBay site:

"Bids made on eBay Motors vehicles are non-binding. In other words, a legal contract isn't created between the buyer and the seller, but the buyer should only bid with serious intent to complete the purchase. Please read our non-binding bid policy to learn more about this important policy."

"A non-binding bid is a bid that shows a buyer's interest in purchasing an item, but it doesn't create a formal contract between the buyer and the seller. All bids made in the Real Estate and eBay Motors vehicles categories are considered non-binding."

"eBay can't guarantee the completion of the sale or require members to complete a sale when a listing isn't binding"

"In most cases, a bid on eBay is a legally binding contract between the buyer and the seller. Due to state laws and the complexities of real estate and vehicle transactions, bids in those categories are non-binding."

I really love these types of stories (esp. the M3 from a while ago) but I think it's pretty clear that no one owes you anything. Imo, your only leverage is negative publicity, which may be difficult to get for a $55k car.

PM me if you want me to take the post down; please don't quote.

Good luck with this dude, don't let them get away with their shady business antics. You won the auction so go get what's yours.

Honda of San Marcos yields one result in the 1st page. Not a bad start.
