New Android snap-in Worthless...
I went to buy the adapter for my S3 and was told that all it does is exactly what the I already have. You charge the phone and access music.... The same as when you simply plug into the usb outlet.
ONLY THE APPLE ADAPTER WILL USE CONNECT SO YOUR APPS ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CAR. Don't waste your money. BMW promotes as a Galaxy solution and it is just hype. What will it take for BMW to wake up to the fact that Apple is not that dominant and that there are a tremendous number of Android users that own BMW's. Also, why not build the remote app so it can run on a PC, laptop or tablet??? I know it is October, but could they put the beer away long enough to respond to the hundreds of posts for Android full integration? |

You aren't considering the convenience. Also, does the Galaxy version have fans like the iPhone Media/Connect models?

To put this in perspective, more than 70% of people who make $100K + use iPhones. I can give you these numbers because I'm in this industry. And we always prefer iOS platform first, because the users are way more profitable.

i picture their execs up there with their dumb apple devices thinking it's so cool and just completely missing the bigger picture and it pisses me off lol i'm not sure if it's enough for ppl to stop buying their cars but that's really the way to get them to notice. i'm a sucker for bmw's so i'm not even sure if it's enough for me to quit them but it sure is tempting.

Will CONNECT version work with MY2012 F30 6NR?
I'm still confused.
According to this thread, MY2012 F30 should wait for MEDIA/MUSIC version for iPhone5 because CONNECT version is only for NBT vehicles. "CONNECT - specific to NBT vehicles" However, in BMWUSA.COM, it still shows CONNECT version for my selection of MY2012 335i. Also, it is applicable to vehicles produced after 9/2010. "Only applicable to vehicles produced after 9/2010 and equipped with either Smart Phone Integration (option code 6NF), BMW APPS (option code 6NR) or NBT vehicles." Will CONNECT version(84212351308) work with MY2012 F30 6NF+6NR? Thank you in advance. Last edited by Elastino; 10-25-2013 at 04:30 PM.. |

Interesting, so I purchase a $100k+ 2014 750li, own a multi million dollar corporation and prefer to not use the restrictive over-controlled Apple product and therefore I don't belong to the right club??? I was told that there would be an Android solution this fall when I ordered the car two months ago. BMW needs to get their act together or my next car will be the S class MBZ. |

Guys
It is not bout the "right club" - it is about the fact that there is more money for BMW catering to the iPhone crowd at this time. This is/will change with the announcement of support for the Android platform. Nobody is saying you aren't cool or make enough money if you have an Android, they are just saying that 70% of the people who do make a lot of money have an iPhone.

I'm ordering a new F31 this month and thanks to this thread I will leave out the current iPhone cradle option with the plan to order the new one if/when it comes out in 2014. My dealer "tech expert" assures me BMW is working on it now. Sounds like a big job to restore the functionality of the iPhones using the older iPhone cables. Once BMW figures out how to adapt to the new lightning cable, any future phone updates should be quicker to build a cradle for. (iPhone6, 7 etc)

Does anyone actually use one of the Samsung Galaxy Media cradles in a 1-series? When I go through the BMW website to see which snap-in cradles are compatible, the Samsung cradles for the 1-series aren't an option (as opposed to iOS devices which are). I also sent my VIN to a BMW dealer selling the Galaxy media cradle, and his system says it's not compatible.
I have a new 135i convertible with Tech Package (includes smartphone integration and BMW Apps) manuf 10/2013, so am confused why the Samsung cradles wouldn't fit, whereas all the apple cradles do. The Samsung cradles list as compatible on 3-series and up, so maybe it's a physical size issue (Samsungs have larger screens)? Thanks Last edited by lpcook; 05-06-2014 at 11:48 AM.. |
