Too bad the color of the Moissanite is in the I,J,K range of the diamond. That is ugly and yellow. Can see it with the naked eye.

That's something to consider. They're typically VS clarity though. I'd consider an I (near colorless)

Still considerably yellow and can be (when placed next to a DEF color) noticed with the naked eye...

Another thing to consider is that all of the moissanite you find in rings today is synthetic (man-made). Yes, the first moissanite that was discovered came from a meteorite crater, however the natural mineral is so rare that it's impossible to get your hands on it. They have found some of it included in other minerals, but in very small amounts.

Some people don't like synthetic stones, and would prefer a stone to be natural. Just thought I'd add that piece, really a personal preference type of thing.

Agreed! We've had some great pictures comparing synthetic and natural stones, I suggest we begin a similar comparison of boobs based on Templar's "amended" post...

I don't know much about those shitty stones, but an I is not nearly colorless in the diamond world and VS is nothing great.

My point was, it's fake and that's the good reason not to get it. Moisisonite is shit, which is why it's cheap. No substitute for a great diamond.

They're beginning to make some pretty good man-made actual diamonds now, too. Why is it shit?

LOL- you're pleading on an emotional level just because it's expensive like a stereotypical woman.

Oh my god...yes, you're right...by definition, they put it in the "nearly colorless" category. Again, my point is that an I is CLEARLY yellowish (even to the naked eye) and not even close to absolutely colorless like a D or E.

I told you...for me, the whole purpose of a diamond is to get the rarest possible stone. Man made isn't even a consideration for me. Price is driven by rarity.

A mortgage? Seriously? Please bump this thread in 5 years if everything works out. I hope it does and wish you the best...but if you take out a mortgage, it's necessarily beyond your means. And don't let BayMoWe335 see the color.

It's a fancy yellow, which is actually pretty rare. Total price was $250,000.

I was just messing around though. I bought my engagement ring from a good friend so afterwards when I brought the future wifey back to get it sized he let her try that ring on for fun. It's a little odd to hold something that small worth a 1/4 of a million dollars.

My wifes uncle bought his wife a 8 carat yellow diamond... It is ugly as hell but expensive as hell... I have no idea why anyone would like something that resembles pine sap color...

Rubies are more rare than diamonds, and less expensive. Plenty of stuff is more rare than diamond
