Damn, between Denn and Ed the bar is being raised so high in this thread I may never post again. Yet another killer shot.

Iconic.

It's interesting how photographers can end up taking almost the same shots at totally different times and situations.

Here's my 3-sec exposure:

Ducks are tough subjects to shoot broadside. The good light helped you, but it's still tough to track them because they move so fast. Which AF pattern were you using?

I always use single point expanded for birds in flight, both on my 7D and 1D4. You are right though, those ducks haul ass in the air! I have far more misses than hits. I was luck on this one as I was even using my 100-400 versus my 400 prime, which tends to focus slower. As I said, I was on a roll that day

Been busy trying to practice some OCF stuff with my car and the multiple exposure mode, nothing worth posting yet, though.

I did get a spike in hits on this older image from Iceland of Gullfoss (famous waterfall there, the Golden Falls) due to it getting on Tumblr somehow... Not a lot but enough to make me remember it, so thought I'd post here.

Shot with my XTi (400D), EF-S 10-22 @22mm, f/11, 0.5"

Amtrak train #6, the Eastbound California Zephyr, comes out of a rain storm past Verdi Nevada on its way to its next stop in downtown Reno.

I try, I try. Although it was a lot easier at that time to take a trip like this by myself -- now I would have to convince my wife and then take a whole cargo plane full of 147 changes of clothes for the kids!

I know the feeling, been to a few places where it would have been nice to get out if the airport - no airfields for this civilian

No idea but it seems like it would fit the bill, parts of Iceland look like Mars!

Haha, it's definitely worth a hit!

I walked the whole edge of that place trying to find some unconventional spot for a unique shot and then walked all the way back to where I started and ended up with this one as the best shot of Gullfoss from that day.

^^^^Love the train shot, Ed? Is that HDR? If so, it's perfect.

Thanks! It is not HDR, just a single exposure. I got the look using Nik color efex pro, a photoshop plug in. It has very cool contrast control features to really bring out the mid tones. The lighting was really good that afternoon and I shot it with a 20mm prime on my full frame-o-licious 5D2, which gave me a great starting point.
