We also just signed a contract for new windows. FML.
Screw IT project management, I should've gone into the window/door business based on our estimates.... |

I live in SoCal and use the AC often. I buy high quality filters and change them every 2 months. No dogs but have one inside cat. When I change them, the old one is adequately dirty. The instructions on the filter say to change every 3 months, so I think I'm being proactive enough.

Funny. Oddly enough, I'm anal about a lot of things, changing my filters is not one of them. I also despise mopping, no reason why. I just don't care for it and will put it off until it absolutely drives me insane and must be done. My filters get changed when it crosses my mind.
Side note: I just ordered some from amazon. ![]() |

![]() Here in SoCal in the Inland Empire it can get miserable so the quality of the AC is very important to me. |

How bad have your windows got to be to spend $25K on them? Wife keeps bringing it up, i estimate replacing ours would be near $60K so I just laugh and laugh.

Yes, could certainly be much worse than our little ranch. I have to assume 2 or 3 story homes would have a premium attached to the labor for those windows up off the ground level. The oversized patio door comes at a premium, too. Wasn't thinking it would average $2K an opening before we started, but I tend to underestimate how much things "should" cost, and also how much time it will take me to do something myself. Just ask my wife. ![]() |

Well, these are super crappy white vinyl insert replacements, so they're about as energy inefficient as reltively modern windows get. I will admit it's as much about the aesthetic upgrade as it is about anything else, however.

That makes me feel better about spending $32K on impact resistant glass in 2017. Seems like window prices have skyrocketed.

But I'm not PLANNING to go anywhere before the current windows need replacing, at least I thought. We went into the oldest son's room, and noticed a pile of rusted metal in between panes on two windows. WTF????

![]() Ended up switching to the K&N washable filter earlier this year and really happy with the quality of the filter and the filtration it provides.

nothing too fancy but finally put a fan in the bedroom. blades fold up when not in use.
Gotta love builders that half ass jobs though. the fan box wasnt secured so had to crawl around in the attic. ![]() ![]()
