I also like the German aesthetic and I also like how they're not very well known (apart from very high quality brands, like your Glashütte). So they can have a lot of value for the $, as compared to some Swiss brands.

I picked it out myself, after a relatively long search. I'm picky like that but I also find there are not many nice women's automatics to choose from. (I understand, it's the market.) You guys are lucky!
Yeah, its unfortunate the market is starting to "discover" German watches (Glashutte pieces like Lange or GO etc) and they are becoming more dear in recent years. I like GO in particular because they make some watches with movements and complications in stainless cases that most only produce in precious metal. Lets you wear something pretty cool like the panomaticluner I posted as a daily beater.

I didn't know that about GO. My husband also doesn't like anything in precious metals...

cars + watches

I love watches, not to tell time but for the design, ingenuity, craftsmanship and sense of history they can carry. Up until a couple years ago I was a "your nuts to spend over $100 on a watch" person, now I'm a complete junkie! I will say, that watches are easier to hide in plain sight from your wife than a car.

If you've ever seen inside of a Jaegar LeCoultre, Richard Mille, A. Lange und Sohne or even a Seiko, NOMOS or Sinn, you know what I mean.

Pics of a few of the watches I wear: Omega moon watch, Glashutte Original Panomaticlunar XL, GO Senator Sixties Chronograph Square, Rolex GMT II ceramic, IWC Pilot Chrono 3717.

In a few years I'll look into a Rolex or a TAG. I really like those, but can't justify the price right now.

Congrats, dude. I know how you feel. I remember the feeling of getting into a residency program like it was yesterday. One of the greatest days of my life. As strange as it seems, it felt better getting into residency than it did signing my first big contract out of residency. Nice watch!

Anyway, I've been following this thread since I posted my Tag. I gotta say, I'm learning to appreciate watches more and more. Not for their name, but the craftsmanship and style behind them. I don't make s ton of money like some of the wall street/finance types on here so I probably won't be buying too many more watches in the future but I am considering buying one or two more. Thanks to those sharing what they know about watches.

For Christmas, I bought this for my wife. My 4 year old daughter helped me pick it out. She wanted the one with all the "sparkles".:

It's a Watch Boys kevlar on an IWC deployant, knock off of the IWC kevlar on the Top Gun Pilot. The stock black croc strap looked too dressy, it has a dark brown croc on it now. The bracelet looks great on this watch, sporty and substantial. I wear this watch more than any other.

Looks great. I hace an IWC deployant as well, and although I like the black, the croc is too dressy.

Do you have a link to where you got yours? Did you mean the watch boys?

The TAG GC joins my Breitling Super Avenger which is posted earlier in this thread. It's at the jewelers getting cleaned and fully polished back to orignial condition. The band is a mirror finish so it takes to scratches well.
Beautiful watch! I love the black band with the red stitches. Matches the interior of my Z.

The Ball is a solid-feeling well-built watch. And you're right it's lume at night is amazing! It isn't as bright as my Seiko Orange monster but it's definitely more legible.

My next watch purchase is on hold. My watch fund went bye-bye fixing my car from hitting a deer. The only damage was the headlight. Did anyone realize one headlight for the 135 cost almost $1200?

I've since lowered my deductable from $1000 to $100, but too late for this repair.

this is why i haven't installed the european headlights in my car. I hate the corner ambers, but in Canada, they cost 1800$ and let's face it. The dollar is on par with the US (basicaly) so where is that extra 600$ going?

A lot of my big ticket items will be purchased in the states as there is no point in buying here anymore.
