$2600 Price Uplift Mystery

I think I found the answer - going back to price guide - it shows an 'estimated $2600' gas guzzler tax - which looks like its being added to the configurator as of yesterday.

Has anyone who is about to take delivery of their G90 Sedan seen this number added to their final total?

Still kind of odd, since its a Plug-In Hybrid...

Ordered black saphire/black leather G99 at the beginning, which was built January, delivered February confirmed by BMW factory
Changed it to individual Grey black Uni ext - End of March delivery.

These payments are practically like a mortgage!

Honestly, picking up a used M5 Competition after a 3-year lease sounds way more reasonable.

Or even better - just keep your current car and invest that monthly amount for the next few years. You’d probably come out way ahead!

You have to understand interest rates are high...thus lease and loans payment will be.

That calculator may not be correct, what's the residual value and MF ?

That’s higher than the 3rd party lease I had on my M5 CS through Putnam. Lol

Those are not final lease figures... those are dummy numbers they put in when the car first goes on the configurator. I bet you those numbers are the total cost of the car, like it's a 3-year loan.

The same thing happened when the G90 went on the config... the lease numbers were ridiculously high and now they're corrected. So if you want to estimate what it'll cost to lease a G99 I'd recommend building an equivalent-cost G90 and seeing what those lease numbers are. Will it perfectly predict? Of course not. But it'll be a lot closer.

Use the configurator on the regular M5. The numbers make much more sense. I think it's just a bug for the Touring one.

I don't think it's a bug, I just think it's a lag between the car going up on the Estimate Payment program and them making an official determination of residual.

How do you order individual interior? My dealer says there is no such option

Well, then your dealer is completely ignorant of the official Ordering Guide.

While Ind Paint can currently be approved, the Ind Interiors have not yet been exposed in the ordering database. You can see them in the ordering guide but they can not yet be selected for approval. The person I am working with at BMWNA is anticipating them to be made available sometime in Dec. Its not a big deal as the SOP for Ind Interiors isn't until 3/25 anyway...

Get your allocation, submit your order, and just wait for the Ind Interiors to open up. Your dealer will have to submit the initial order without any Ind paint/interior anyway (typically black/black)... The Ind stuff then gets updated/approved on request to BMWNA/BMWDE after the fact.

Thanks for the info. So I already submitted my order and my dealer told me once it has been submitted and approved by BMW germany, I can no longer change the order. My dealer said my car will be built starting in December with delivery in March. I guess the individual interiors are only available for cars that are built in March?

Can your dealer give you a production number? Canada maybe different, but in the entire US there are only 12 “approved” orders that have received an allocation.

I think that's the next step. I just paid the deposit yesterday and they submitted the order. Should receive an update in the coming weeks.

Can you share where do you get such specific information? Do you have any additional information as far as how fast are they thinking to ramp up the allocations across US?

No idea when production will ramp up.

There is discussion about the Touring allocations in another thread linked below. I believe any US dealer is able to see total US allocations though.

Per the BMW G99 Ordering guide: Individual Interiors are SOP 3/25 (Start of Production in March):

ZCKH = Dark Violet/Black Merino
ZCKI = Taupe Grey/Deep Lagoon Merino

(Note that these are not listed as "Extended" or "Full". I'm hoping that is merely an omission...)

*** IMHO: It would be my suggestion that anyone who is going to order any BMW become personally familiar with all the options in the ordering guide and NOT rely on a sales person. Sales folks just want to take an order and they will happily tell you whatever gets you to place one. You are better off understanding what options are available, when they are available, which options can be ordered together and which can not, and which packages include which options. All of this can be had from the Ordering Guide. Its not that difficult. IMHO: Sales folks are best used to simply fill out the corresponding paperwork. YOU should understand the options and be driving the purchase - not a sales person. (This will also put you in a better position for negotiations). $0.02
