Much different vehicle but congrats. I’d personally go for the RS6 Avant just for the better looks and bigger fuel tank (19.3g v 15.9g) and likely better driving dynamics (550lb less weight). Pretty gorgeous car.

No offense to all those excited about this G91. Cool car.

One available near me. $154k.

The tax code utilizes GVWR, so I'd imagine the sedan and touring will both have eligibility for tax planning purposes

5,530 lbs...ouch.

Slower and 550lbs heavier than RS6.

Some of the was the best features for the touring. Overall looks better than sedan IMO
I agree. Not forget the;
- Missing leather dashboard and door panels option
- Missing upper seat back adjustment
- No night vision
- No soft close doors
- No B&W Diamond surround system
- No interior trim and ambient light for the rear doors
- Overall bad details/elements

This 5-series/M5 is the worst 5er ever made.

It's for sure not slower dude. It's 10% heavier but who cares?? It's not a carbon monocoque hypercar, it's a sporty family wagon.

Just drove the RS6. Family member bought it. Incredible car. Also has air suspension, leather and alcantara everywhere. Better sound system for sure too with the highest end B&O. Two moonroofs and front opens. Air conditioned seats. Unreal power and sounds amazing.

Not trying to rain on the M5 parade. I haven’t even driven that car yet.

Suspension raises and lowers - this is the highest setting for better egress.

You are partially correct. When BMW did the limited edition Frozen Gray E92’s they came with all these warnings. Since then matte paints have come a long way and these are no longer concerns. About the only concern now is that you cannot really polish out scratches, but the matte paint does of much better job hiding them anyways.

Never wipe it with towels for any reason. Dry with a blow dryer for cars.
You need to wash matte paint more frequently than gloss.
No clear coat so things like bird crap or tree sap will do damage sooner.

Bottom line, it's a complete PITA. The only way I would ever get a matte finish car would be for a non-daily-driver. If you drive a matte car daily and let it get rained on, snowed on, road-salted, etc.... it's going to be tough to keep it pristine.

I hated the M2 in pictures, but nearly purchased one when I saw it in person and test drove it. This may be similar.

Haha, People hate change for a second then see one parked on a Street or in a Dealership and fall in love with it. Just like the G8x Grilles, New M2, Etc.

I've been holding out on purchasing an RS6 Avant for the family to see the release of this M5 Touring, but BMW has made this easy for me.

For those talking the RS6, yes it is prettier, likely faster. I urge you to look at the Belt Start Generator issues with all Audi's that have the 48 Volt system. AudiWorld has thousands of people with this issue, it is why I turned down my RSQ8, and went back to a Cayenne. Unless you like to gamble it won't die before 40,000 miles and come to a dead stop on the freeway, possibly locking you inside....

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like 2024 models aren’t affected. https://chimicles.com/2019-2023-audi...ction-lawsuit/

Not always. The 7 series has not grown on anyone. The non-M 4 series is still ugly as hell. A lot of the SUVS are ugly as hell and not getting better with age.

Yeah I checked out the M2 and didn’t like it. The M3 was mostly OK with carbon exterior pack and most people that I ran into had modified the grill with aftermarket options. The iX is edgy but also weird. X7 bilevel headlights I actually like but many don’t. The design of the cars is sort of pushing the limits every single time, and when you go over to Mercedes or Audi you figure out how far you waded into the weirdness. Although that said they also have their own weirdness especially Merc. But it’s not as in your face.

I own a 2022 RS6. To my knowledge there is not a new (improved) part number, the lawsuit started before 2024 vehicles existed. There probably have not been any failures of 2024’s YET, but I’m almost positive it is the same issue because it is the same part number.

EDIT:

It looks like there is a new part number now. RS6’s built (or had their BSG replaced) October 2023 or later should be good.

My daily driver is a 2023 Audi S8 and it has the 48V mild hybrid system. No BSG failure yet for me but I've only had it for 1 year and driven 7500 miles. One thing I make sure to do is always turn off the Auto Start/Stop feature every time I start the car. My car is a lease so honestly I don't think I'm going to have it long enough to be an issue, and if I do it's not my car anyway.

Honestly with all these techy cars I usually go for leasing instead of owning. Never have to worry about out of pocket repairs and don’t have to baby the car. Drive them like I stole them. At least that is what I did with my last two cars.

Only reason I bought my recent car is because post Covid the lease numbers sucked bad.

My next car will most likely be a lease again.
