This is all electric one, Audi renaming models to ICE and EV (oh yes, this thing is ugly as hell). Ruined concept design completely.

Competitor for M5 will be RS7 Avant:

I have a F90….I love it but it’s time to move on….:I don’t like the G90 design at all but what I hate the most…it’s just not better in any way. It doesn’t look better, is not as fast, not as luxurious, weighs more, and has less options.

When a new car comes out, it needs to be better in every measurable way than the previous generation. The only thing I see here that’s better is 40 miles (maybe) of electric range. That’s it.

“….and for those reasons, I’m out.”

In more seriousness, practicality and performance in one car. Some folks are tuning RS6 up to 1000hp, just for fun.

And for me, most of the time touring/avant or whatever you call it - looks better than sedan.
I would assume the first you you do when purchasing an RS6 is tune/bolt-ons and lower. Then enjoy your bad ass wagon

All auto manufacturers are back tracking on their plans of going full ev. Porsche is focusing more there but there is enough ICE scope left.

If another data point matters. The Rimac Nevera will not be produced anymore because they could only secure fifty instead of the one-hundred-fifty orders. Though it’s a $2m all electric super car, ten times more expensive than the pimped up M5.

In the world we are there is a mysterious obsession with going all electric, nobody is going on track with 6K Kg of kerb weight. Batteries ain’t getting feather light with some magic wand
- M5, which is a hybrid, is almost 400 lbs heavier than i5 which is a BEV, even though i5 isn't a bespoke platform. iX is lighter than X5 50e, and very close in weight to X5 M60i; even though it's a first generation bespoke BEV. So no, a full electric M5 wouldn't be heavier than hybrid M5, it would actually be much lighter.
- 'All' Car manufacturers aren't back-tracking their EV Plans at all. Ford, Benz, VW and GM overshot, so they're adjusting. BMW and many others didn't change any plans. Japanese companies on the other hand, they're re-adjusting their plans to manufacture more EVs.
- Next M5 will presumably be released around 2031. Most EU countries and some states in the US will outright ban ICE in 2030s, and none of them backtracked anything. So finally we won't be breathing exhaust gas all day every day. And BMW definitely won't make an M5 that they can't sell in Germany and California. Next M5 will definitely be on the nk platform, and it will definitely be full electric.

oh i know ive been lurking on the Audi forums since the RS6 was brought over here. this F90 lease isn’t up for another year tho, so we’ll see what happens…

bmw using potato chip clips for rear calipers never fails to make me laugh

and for everyone suggesting the RS6 over this here's a gentle reminder that the audi engines sit in front of the axle. their handling is dogshit and has been for years.

RS6 will be gone by then, unless you buy used or leftover inventory (if there are any still in showrooms).

RS7 Avant should be here in 2026, which works well for me because my S8 lease ends 9/30/26.

Agree with all of that. Also the evaporation of an ICE market in China will handicap any auto company that wants skin in the game in that large and important market. So they better offer legit EVs.

The cladding on the back comes up so high to try to hide how tall the car is and it’s really weird.

Overall though definitely works better as a wagon than a sedan. Wagons are supposed to be tall and heavy looking.

I’m actually right there with you on this. I was really looking forward to the wagon but the sedan seems to be better on both side profile and back. And yes as soon as I saw these pictures most of my built up excitement for months now died a little too. It’s disappointing that the RS6 Avant actually looks more aggressive and better than this.

Not an M car but when you say BMW and unique doors I think of the i8.

There is not a single car in the Audi lineup that does not look great.
They look great, then you drive one and are disappointed. The current infotainment/touchscreen setup they have in the RS6 and RS e-tron is a nightmare, way too many steps to do anything especially the sound & climate controls which I am always messing around with. As long as BMW keeps the iDrive wheel they have me locked up. The 2024 RS6 seems very heavy in the front, better for highways. You can really feel it in the canyons. VW/Audi seats have never been that good, they need to work on that.

Thread title says the M5 Touring has leaked (so maybe still is leaking). If so, maybe the well dressed gentleman in the picture should stand further back from the outlandishly ENORMOUS looking wagon so as not to soil his nice suit

Looks better than the sedan, but that is typical.

Can't say I'd ever lust after one, TBH. Hybrid and the increase in length and weight just makes it pointless.

The G31 is already bigger than it needs to be, but at least it doesn't have the weight of the new platform.

I realize political forces out of Davos are pushing companies in this direction, but man is it sad.

It's not better because it's a wagon.

This isn't like the CTS-V at all lol.

Sure it's going to be fast but this design language is going to take another 10 years to rectify.

I gotta say I HATE that they’re going away from fender grills. Just looks so plain and boring without them.

In California, if you you read the fine print on the ICE ban scheduled for 2035, Plug In Hybrids will still be allowed
